You’re the Coolest–MFTWSC #257

MFTWSC257_2015dec2

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Challenge & Inspiration Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

My card started with a Stone Gray card stock base. Then I did a water color wash on some Ranger watercolor paper with Peerless Watercolors, tied around some black and white baker’s twine, and popped it up on the base with foam mounting tape. Next I cut the perforated element from Sweet Tooth card stock with Blueprints 22 Die-namics, popping it up on foam, as well. Next, on Black Licorice card stock cut with Blueprints 20 Die-namics, I stamped the sentiment from BB Toasty Greetings with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder and adhered it.

Then I cut the circle from Blueprints 22 Die-namics from Stone Gray card stock, dry embossed it with Split Diagonal Stencil, and popped it up. Next I cut some Snowflake Flurry Die-namics from Ranger watercolor paper, stamped the coordinating images with, top to bottom, Periwinkle dye ink, Blu Raspberry dye ink, and Cornflower dye ink and arranged them on the circle element. I finished off with some clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today. MFT December Release Countdown starts tomorrow so I’ll see you soon!

Happy Holidays–CTD #371

CTD371_2015dec2

Hi, everyone, and welcome to the first Color Throwdown Challenge of December! Can you believe it’s DECEMBER??? I’m having a little trouble wrapping my head around THAT, LOL! But, here it is and Wanda has a very festive color combo, based on an equally festive inspiration piece, for us this week.

So, I went with the whole presents inspiration and put Birthday Present Die-namics box on my card. It was cut from Black Licorice card stock and the bow was cut from gold foil card stock. My base card was made from Sweet Tooth card stock with a strip of Sweet Tooth card stock stamped with Candy Stripes Background Builder in Delicata Gold pigment ink and Black Licorice dye ink—see, Candy Stripes Background Builder is NOT just for candy stripes—I love to use it for ANY color combo. Next I added another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock dry embossed with Weave Stencil, popped up on foam mounting tape.

I adhered the present, added a sentiment from LJD Trim the Tree, stamped with Delicata gold pigment ink on Black Licorice card stock and heat embossed with my FAVORITE gold detail embossing powder, also popped up on foam. To finish off, I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD371 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd371 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented December Guest Designer, Torico!

Warmest Wishes–Creative Construction with Blueprints: Blueprints Basics

creativeconstrucBP_2015dec1

Hi, everyone, thanks for joining me today for the MFT’s December Creative Construction With Blueprints. Cards in a flash are the specialty of the Blueprints line and this month, we can all probably use a leg up in that regard! Our challenge this month is simple: create cards based on Blueprints sketches. Any Blueprints, any sketch. Simple choose the paper and let Blueprints do the rest of the work!

I’m using mainly Blueprints 20 Die-namics and I’m using a sketch that was released with it. I chose to use my quilt frame as a window frame for a Wintry scene for this card.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, added a layer of Cement Gray card stock cut with the tiny scallop die and popped up on foam mounting tape. Then I stamped up some Sweet Tooth card stock with Cement Gray dye ink and Candy Stripes Background Builder, cut it with the smaller layer die and adhered it. I created my scene with Winter Wonderland and Winter Wonderland Die-namics, using Ranger watercolor paper and colored with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers.

I have Snow Drifts Die-namics in the background, a BB Somebunny cloud, and a sun, cut from Sunshine card stock with Blueprints 21 Die-namics. I popped the window frame up on foam, added the sentiment, from BB Warmest Wishes, stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, and added a Cornflower dye ink stamped Snowflake Flurry and Snowflake Flurry Die-namics accent. A few Pretty Pink Posh sequins finished it off.

And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today—see you soon!
