Hang in There—Two Days Until MFT’s July Card Kit Release!

Welcome to Day Two of MFT’s July Card Kit Countdown! This month’s kit is called Sky High Friends and contains two stamp sets and Die-namics, a Free with $60 Die-namics, a new paper pad, and cardstock. Release is on Tuesday, July 21st at 10am Eastern so make a note. And be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details.





For today’s card I’m using Best Adventure Bears Stamp Set and Die-namics and Petite Clouds Die-namics—love these little guys! I missed Puffy Clouds so much and these are a great replacement! To begin, I did a watercolor wash background using Peerless Watercolor and a waterbrush. When it was dry, I splattered it with clean water for a little interest. When THAT was dry I stamped the sentiment with Extreme Black hybrid ink. Then I adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base cover with Summertime Polka Dots Paper Pad with fun foam and set it aside.

Next I stamped the image on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut it out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored it with Copic markers, and added it to the card front along with some Petite Cloud Die-namics cut from Sweet Tooth card stock.

Go Big on Your Birthday - MFT July Birthday Project Challenge

Gift cards have become a staple when it comes to thoughtful presents — there are so many options available that you can always find the perfect choice for the special people on your gift list! It's easy enough to simply slip one inside a birthday card but you have the skills to elevate your gift card presentation into an art form! Today our team is using any of the variety of gift card options available in the MFT boutique to do just that.

Hello and welcome to the July edition of MFT’s Birthday Project Challenge! I can’t agree more!!! Gift cards rock! Especially in these trying days when we rarely see family and friends face to face—they are so easy to add to a card and drop into the mail. And they’re always the right size and color!! Can’t really go wrong with a gift card. If you don’t know the recipient's exact taste, a generic card is always welcome. For this card I used my favorite Slider Surprise Die-namics to conceal the gift card, and decorated it with images and a sentiment from the recently released SY Pawty Time Stamp Set and Die-namics.

The images were stamped on No Line Coloring Card Stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut out with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and adhered to the card front with foam tape. Before assembling the slider mechanism, I sponged the background with Broken China and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks and stamped the confetti.Once assembled and you pull the slider mechanism up, the gift card is revealed!!

Sweet Birthday Wishes–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #498

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

After a little thought, I decided to go CAS with this card. To begin, I applied a watercolor wash to Ranger Watercolor paper to represent the larger circle element. To add interest I splattered some clean water and after it dried I adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card base with Fun Foam. {Sometimes watercolor washes will warp the paper and a sheet of Fun Foam will flatten it out nicely.)

Then I moved on to creating my Frosted Cupcake Die-namics from the latest MFT Release. The liner was cut from Birthday Brights Paper Pad and the frosting from Milk Chocolate card stock. If I’m going to frost something, chances are it’s going to be chocolate ;-) Once it and the candle were assembled, I popped them up on the card front with foam tape.

To finish off, I heat embossed a sentiment from Bitty Birthday Wishes Stamp Set with Ranger Silver Pearl embossing powder on Razzle Berry card stock cut with Skinny Strips Die-namics, then popped up on foam, as well.

I’m Sorry–Color Throwdown Challenge #602

Hi everyone! It’s time for a new Color Throwdown Challenge and this week I’m hosting! Hope you’ll come on over and join us this week!





I decided to go with a scrappy design for this card To begin I created my background by using Faded Jeans and Broken China Distress Inks sponged on Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock then spattered it with clean water. Once dry, I popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Next I added A2 Rectangle Frames Die-namics cut from Gold Sparkle card stock and popped it up on foam as well. To that I added Grande Greenery - Solid, Grande Greenery – Outlines cut from Jellybean Green card stock and a butterfly, using Brilliant Butterflies Stamp Set and Die-namics, stamped with Peach Bellini dye ink and heat embossed with fine detail gold embossing powder.

Once that was all done it was just a matter of heat embossing a sentiment from Happy Hummingbirds Stamp Set on Heavyweight Vellum and finishing off with some gold glitter enamel dots.

I Believe in You–MFT Color Challenge #145

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Tropical Teal, Berrylicious, Kraft, and Natural. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I had to give this one a little thought, but in the end went with Prismacolor pencil colored Fun Flowers Stamp set for my focal image. I repeated an image four time to create a kind of wreath with Extreme Black hybrid ink on Natural Card Stock and after coloring the flowers pupped it up on a Kraft card stock base after stamping a sentiment from Anything-but-Basic Encouragement Stamp Set at the bottom. It was stamped with Tropical Teal dye ink but looks darker in the photo.

After that was done I added another sentiment across the center of the “wreath” from the same set, heat embossed on Tropical Teal card stock cut with Fishtail Flag Trio Die-namics.
