Birthday Wishes - MFT Birthday Project Challenge--Balloons!!

 

Need an instant party? Just add balloons. You simply can't deny the unfettered charm balloons bring to most any occasion. Stamps, dies, stencils — we've got the perfect balloon for any application and our designers are here today to share their ideas with you. 

One-layer cards can be so cool, especially if there's lots of color so I decided to add that color with Big Balloons Stencil and Distress Ink. I used Fossilized Amber, Shabby Shutters, Broken China, Dusty Concord, and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock to begin.

Once that dried I splattered it with clean water and black acrylic ink, then hand drew in the balloon strings with a Black Copic multiliner pen.

For the sentiment, I cut Birthday Wishes Die-namics from Black Licorice card stock and adhered it with spray adhesive, then adhered the card front to a Sweet Tooth card stock base for the finish!

Sending You a Flurry of Love - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #512

 

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I saw snowflakes when I first saw this sketch and couldn't get them off my mind! So, to start, I heat embossed Peacock Pattern Background on Ranger Watercolor paper with silver detail embossing powder did a watercolor wash with Peerless Watercolors then set it aside to dry. 

Then I cut Sweet Snowflakes from Silver Sparkle card stock and heat embossed the sentiment from SY Flurry of Love Stamp Set on Translucent Vellum. When the watercolor panel was dry, I popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock panel, splattered it with silver acrylic ink, and popped the whole thing up on foam tape on a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

To finish off, I popped up the sentiment and the snowflakes with clear foam tape and it was done!

Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas - Color Throwdown Challenge #616

 

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge!! This week Lisa is our hostess and I absolutely LOVE the color combo she has chosen for us base on her warm and cozy inspriation piece!

I hadn't used the recently released MFT Four Corners Background stamp so I got it out and heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder on Ranger Watercolor paper and then did a watercolor wash with Peerless watercolors. Once dry, I popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam tape.

Next I cut Translucent Vellum with Stitched Mini Scallop Rectangle STAX Die-namics and heat embossed, also with gold powder, Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas Stamp Set which I adhered directly to the card front with spray adhesive. 

Next I cut Holly Berries Die-namics--the leaves from Kraft card stock and the berries from No Line Coloring card stock--and colored them up with Copic markers. The holly was adhered with hot glue and I was done!

Sending You a Little Magic - MFT October Outside the Box Challenge

 

There’s no better time to —BOO— surprise a friend or loved one with a card than Halloween. Crafting scenes featuring graveyards, haunted houses, and trick-or-treaters is easy with a basic box card base! If Halloween isn’t your thing, an autumn scene with bare-branched trees and falling leaves is a perfect alternative. We’ve challenged our designers to heed the call of fall in this month’s challenge — won’t you join them?

I used Boo Crew Stamp Set and Die-namics, along with Outside the Box and Outside the Box Grass, Spooky Fence, and Haunted House Die-namics for the "bones" of my project.

Images were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut with the coordinating Die-namics, and colored with Copic markers.

The box was constructed from Black Licorice card stock and Creepy Confections Patterned Paper with the "shelves" cut from Limelight card stock. Edges of the grass and the haunted house were sponged with Kraft card stock. 

The background was done on Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock with Seedless Preserves and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. Spooky Fence Die-namics was cut from Tangy Orange card stock and distressed with black ink for the rusty look.

The sentiment was stamped on Orange Zest card stock cut from Skinny Strips Die-namics and popped up on foam on the box front.

Joy - MFT Color Challenge #151

 

Hi all, I'm back with the latest MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here's this week's color combo: Smooth White, Electric Red, Jellybean Green, and Limelight. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

Well, of course these color said CHRISTMAS to me so that's where I went! To begin, I spread molding paste through English Brick Wall Stencil on a Sweet Tooth card stock base and set it aside. While it was drying I cut Joyful Wreath Die-namics from Limelight and Jellybean Green card stocks, Electric Red card stock for the berries, and the Joy in the center was cut from Silver Sparkle card stock.

Once the background was dry, I assembled the wreath on the card front using hot glue and popped the Joy up on foam tape.
