Décor & More Joy Banner

joybanner_2015nov23

Hey, everyone, today I have a Christmas décor project that I created with MFT’s Décor & More line. Did you know that they are on sale right now? That’s right, Décor & More products are 50% off today and tomorrow. No code needed, the discount will be applied automatically.

For my banner, I wanted a bit of a rustic look so I started by stamping up some A2 size pieces of Kraft card stock with Burlap Background and Natural dye ink. Then I randomly stamped all over with Snowflake Flurry stamp set and Electric Red dye ink. I cut it out with Blueprints 15 Die-namics, sponged the edges with Kraft dye ink, and matted it on Electric Red card stock, also with the edges sponged.

I cut my Décor & More – J Die-namics, Décor & More – O Die-namics, Décor & More – Y Die-namics from Electric Red card stock, sponged the edges, and popped them up on foam mounting tape, then hot glued them to some heavy red jute cord. I added the clothespins just for effect—they’re not really doing anything except looking rustic ;-)

Now’s the time to grab these babies up for your holiday décor crafting—50% off is an awesome sale! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Hi, everyone, thanks for joining me today for Day Two of MFT’s November Release Countdown! It won’t be long now! Release is on November 3rd at 10pm—be sure to check out the MFT Blog for all the details. Today we’re previewing LLD Hug in a Mug, LLD Hot Cocoa Cups Die-namics, Bold Diagonal Stripes Background, Basic Stitch Lines Die-namics, Stitched Star STAX Die-namics, and Stitched Cover-Up Companion Horizontal Die-namics.

NewReleaseCountdown_Day2
I have a card and a couple of home décor projects for you today, along with a short video. First up, the card. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then, on a piece of Ranger watercolor paper, I did a watercolor wash with Daffodil dye ink, Tangy Orange dye ink, and the new Chili Powder dye ink. Chili Powder is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Then I splattered some clean water and stamped the sentiment, from Hand Lettered Holiday, with Versamark and heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder. I must say, this is the first time I’ve used the gold embossing powder that MFT carries and it.is.da.BOMB!!! Total smooth coverage, I’m sayin’!

Then I cut some Stitched Star STAX Die-namics from gold foil card stock, arranged and popped them up on foam mounting tape. I finished off with some gold Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

Next a couple of Christmas décor items.

I made a little video to show you how I achieved the dimensional look with Stitched Star STAX Die-namics and you can view it HERE in HD or click on the button below.

Once I got my ornament base made, I added some clear chunky glitter, punched a small hole at the end of a point, and tied on some silver baker’s twine for a hanger.

I also made a banner with a smaller die, using the same technique to create dimension. For this, I added some Warm Diamond Microfine Glitter and strung the stars on the same silver baker’s twine. Here’s a close up of how I did that, using hot glue.

And here’s the finished banner. I used nine stars and it’s about four feet long.

This photo shows the dimension you get.

And that’s it from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for the last day of MFT’s November Release Countdown!

MFT November DT Creative Challenge–Christmas Cheer

creativechallenge1_2014nov25

We’re quickly approaching a season that is chock-full of opportunities for creating cards, tags, treat boxes, and home decor. With such an amazing array of crafting possibilities, we were encouraged to go wild exploring all of the holiday crafting our imaginations can travel. I'm ALWAYS up for creating for Christmas and today I have a card with a twist on what has become an ubiquitous part of our culture and a mini version of my beloved banner.

Alright, let’s get to it, shall we? The most important thing I can tell you about this card is that it was super easy! A little time consuming, but very easy to put together and I love it. I love it so much I’m going to frame it :)

I started with a Black Licorice card stock base, then cut the letters from Sweet Tooth card stock with LLD Little Letters Die-namics and simply adhered them to the card front. I laid them out and then lightly drew some pencil lines to help me keep them straight and glued them on. The Santa hat is from BB Jingle All the Way. It started out on top of Santa’s head, but I stamped it on X-Press It Blending Card with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored it with Copic markers and fussy cut it out and popped it up on foam, after adding some Puffy Paint to the fur areas. I wanted just another touch of color so the “AND” (also part of a sentiment from BB Jingle All the Way)was stamped on Wild Cherry card stock with Sweet Tooth pigment ink, heat embossed with white embossing powder, then popped up on foam, as well.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Seasonal Sentiments with Wild Cherry dye ink. I’m going to hang this on my wall in a frame and leave it so people can open it up and see the inside sentiment—interactive art--I think it will be a hit at our Christmas Open House in less than two weeks :)

Next up is the mini banner…mini in size only, though. It has pretty much all of the usual elements that I include on my big banners except the rosette. Sadly, the rosette dies have been retired but it would have been too bulky for this smaller version, anyway.

I started with corrugated paper and cut out my bottom layer of each pennant with a Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics, trimming down the length. Because of the smaller scale, I needed my layers to be closer in size to show to the best advantage, so I used them instead of my usual Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX Die-namics. The next layer up was cut with Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics from Black Licorice card stock and the third was cut again from Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics from Sweet Tooth card stock stamped with Sheet Music Background using Black Licorice hybrid ink.

I used this month’s Free With $60 set, Stitched Scallop Edges Die-namics and Black Licorice card stock for the “header” and Pierced Snowflakes Die-namics and glitter paper for the next layer. From Blu Raspberry card stock I cut the “dizzy” variation from Mini Doily Circles Die-namics, more corrugated paper with Stitched Circles STAX Die-namics, and the letters from teal glitter paper using LLD Little Letters Die-namics. I connected them all together by hot gluing each pennant to jute cord and tied a Blu Raspberry button between each pennant and at each end with hemp cord. The “sentiment” part is from LJD Snowflake Splendor and was stamped on Sweet Tooth card stock with Black Licorice hybrid ink. All elements were sponged with Kraft dye ink.

Here’s how it’s going to be displayed in my home—I’m so in love!
