My Love Story–C4C #218

C4C218_2014jan11

Hi, everyone! It’s Saturday so it’s time for Crazy 4 Challenges! Sarah is our host this month and today’s challenge is a fun one! Here it is in Sarah’s own words:

Skinny Cards! Did you resolve to lose weight this year? Let’s give our cards a makeover, go skinny with a card base that measures 3.5” wide by 5.5” tall. I love this size as you can hang elements off the side and still fit your creation in a regular envelope.

I’ll admit I was a little dubious about this but once I got started I found out it was a lot of fun! I started with a Spearmint card stock base card, trimmed down to 3.5”. Then I added a strip of Sweet Tooth card stock stamped with Typewriter Text Background and Black Licorice ink. Then I stamped the sentiment, from Love Story with Black Licorice ink on Sweet Tooth card stock, matted it with Black Licorice card stock and popped it up on foam. I then stamped the hearts from Sunny Day Doodles Love It with Sweet Tooth pigment ink on Black Licorice card stock, cut the ends with Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics so it would extend out to A2 size, and adhered it. I also added a border using Layered Heart Border Die-namics and Black Licorice card stock and Bubblegum card stock. I stamped some “patterned paper” using the rose from Sunny Day Doodles Love It, colored them with Copic markers, cut it out with a Heart STAX Die-namics, and popped it up on foam. I finished it off with some heart shaped enamel “dots”.

Here’s the inside with another sentiment from Love Story.

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C218.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

MFT January Release Rewind

releaserewind_2014jan9

Hi, everyone! It’s time for this month’s Release Rewind! I love this feature since it gives the designers a great opportunity to use some products we might not have gotten around to using during the release. This almost always happens for me so I’m really excited about this chance to be creative with the amazing new MFT products that are available right HERE, right NOW in the MFT Boutique. To get all the details, be sure to stop by the MFT Blog.

I have a couple of cards for you today using the new Lots of Love Die-namics. SO much you can do with this sweet set! My first card starts with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. To that I adhered a strip of more Sweet Tooth card stock stamped with the XOs from MPD Distressed Hearts in Red Hot ink. I added a narrow strip of Black Licorice card stock, then a Sweet Tooth card stock panel embossed with Hugs & Kisses Cover-up Die-namics. Then I cut the letters from Lots of Love Die-namics with silver glitter paper and popped them up on foam. For the center “O”, I substituted a heart from Staggered Heart Border Die-namics in red glitter paper.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from MPD Distressed Hearts with Red Hot ink.

My second card also starts with a Sweet Tooth card stock base.

I cut another panel of Sweet Tooth card stock and embossed Staggered Heart Border Die-namics diagonally across and rounded the corners. Then I cut out “hugs & kisses” using Lots of Love Die-namics from Wild Cherry card stock and popped it up on foam.

The inside of this card has another sentiment from MPD Distressed Hearts stamped with Steel Gray ink.

XOXOXOXO–MFTWSC #159

MFTWSC158_2014jan8

Hey, there! It’s Wednesday noon so it much be time for this week’s MFTWSC! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC158

I went kinda scrappy for today’s card and it was so much fun! I started with a Kraft card stock base. On a piece of the new and FABULOUS Grout Gray card stock, I stamped Typewriter Text Background with Grout Gray ink and stitched it to a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock. To that I stitched on a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock that was stamped with the hounds tooth image from DC Large Scale Backgrounds with Blue Raspberry ink. I tied around some hemp cord and then adhered the whole thing to the base. Next I stamped the frame from MPD Distressed Hearts Frame Die-namics with Steel Gray ink, the center with Wild Cherry ink, and the banner with Blu Raspberry ink and popped it up with foam. To finish off, I tied on a Wild Cherry button.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Love Story.
