Happy Birthday–CTD #249

Happy Wednesday, Color Throwdown fans! Today Joan has chosen some rockin’ patriotic colors for us to play with. I love the Bermuda Bay tossed in the mix, don’t you?

Before I tell you about my card, I have a couple more things to mention. Denise has decided to step down from the team to spend more time with her family. We will really miss her gorgeous creations every week and I know you will too.

AND, next week is Color Throwdown 250!!! We have a little celebration planned so be SURE to check back next week—you won’t want to miss it.

So, on to my card. I used MFT’s Washi Patterns in a different way again. I LOVE these small patterns so much and decided they would make great candles. I stamped several patterns on Sweet Tooth card stock and cut them in half lengthwise to make two of each. I popped them up on foam tape on a Sweet Tooth card stock base and set to making the flame. The two smaller leaves in Die-namics Flower & Leaf Trio made a perfect flame. I cut the larger one from Lemon Drop card stock and the smaller from Orange Fizz card stock. I adhered them together and popped them up on foam, as well, slipping the point just under the top of each “candle”. I stamped the sentiment, from LLD Document It – Bingo, on more Sweet Tooth card stock cut with a Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon flag and Black Licorice ink. I popped that up on foam and was done!

For the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Birthdays. This card is already on the way to a very special recipient—I hope she likes it :)

USA Banner

Hi, all! It’s almost Independence Day in the US and I really needed a new patriotic banner. My old one was looking a little worse for wear, so I whipped up one using a ton of MFT Die-namics dies. No stamping, just die cuts and glue :) MFT July Teasers start tomorrow so I thought I’d go ahead and post this now.

All pennant bases were made with Kraft corrugated paper, Nightshift Blue card stock, and patterned paper, all cut with my Die-namics Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX, using the three largest sizes. Each  pennant has a header made with Die-namics Western Star Border Duo and Red Hot card stock under Kraft card stock. Each pennant also has a Die-namics Open Scallop Doily Duo element topped with a rosette made with Die-namics 1/4” Rosette. (I trimmed 1/4” off the side before assembling each rosette to make it fit better on the pennant.)

 

The next element on each pennant is a Kraft corrugated circle made with Die-namics Circle STAX. The three center pennants have letters cut with Die-namics High-Rise Alphabet Uppercase, using red glitter paper, and the two end pennants are embellished with stars, using Die-namics Star STAX and Die-namics Stacking Stars.




In between each pennant is a small pennant cut from Kraft corrugated paper and Die-namics Mix & Match Banners, with a red glitter star and a hemp cord tied Nightshift Blue button.



All die cuts were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink before being assembled. Here are some more shots of the individual pennants. The “S”:

300th Mojo Monday Sketch

Hi, everyone! Today I have a card using the 300th Mojo Monday Sketch. Mojo Monday is celebrating it’s 300th sketch and you can find all the details on the challenge blog HERE. MFT is helping to celebrate this awesome milestone with a prize and I’m tickled to be playing along to help get the word out.

I brought out another old favorite of mine, DC Well Worn Greetings. My base card is Kraft card stock with an Electric Red card stock layer under the patterned paper. I stamped the sentiment on Primitive White card stock with Electric Red ink on a Die-namics Designer Labels 1 STAX die cut and popped up on foam. The circle under it was cut with Die-namics Award Seal. You’ll also see a Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX flag under all that and I finished off with a Die-namics Pretty Posies flower with Die-namics Royal Leaves. There’s a Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon flag under the flower and a Steel Gray button tied with hemp cord is it’s center. Some stitching and some sponging finish it off.
