Brrring on the Joy!–CTD #370

CTD370_2015nov25

Hi, everyone, thanks for joining me for this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge! Today Miss Vickie has a very fun color combo for us based on her very fun inspiration piece!

swatch 370
I started with a Stone Gray card stock base, then did a watercolor wash on some Ranger watercolor paper with Peerless Watercolors. I added Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics, the top layer popped up on foam mounting tape for dimension, and stamped the sentiment from BB Toasty Greetings with Chocolate Brown hybrid ink, then popped the whole thing up on foam.

Next I cut and stamped the images from BB Toasty Greetings and BB Toasty Greetings Die-namics using Neenah Classic Crest Cover, Solar White Smooth, 110lb and Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored them with Copic markers, and popped them up as well. I finished off with some Pretty Pink Posh clear sequins and was done!

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD370 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd370 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented November Guest Designer, Karolyn Loncon!

MFT November Die-namics Design–‘Tis the Season for Tags

dienamicsdesign_2015nov24

Hi, everyone, welcome to the November edition of MFT’s Die-namics Design Design Team Challenge! This month’s challenge: tags!

MFT_DienamicsDesign_SideBar
Soon we’re going to be needing tags, right? So there’s no time like the present to get a pile of them made and waiting for the gift wrapping to start. I’ve made a couple of pretty simple tags that should be quick and easy to mass produce, but that have a ton of the “cute” factor :)

First up, the Santa Suit Tag. I’m really loving this theme this year, can you tell? For this tag, I cut Wild Cherry card stock with Stitched Traditional Tags STAX Die-namics, then added a strip of Sweet Tooth card stock down the center. Next I added the Black Licorice card stock belt, using the last tiny buckle that I had in my stash.

dienamicsdesign_2015nov24b

The sentiment is from Gift Card Greetings and was stamped on Sweet Tooth card stock cut with Tag Builder Blueprints 4 Die-namics and tied on with some tiny black check gingham ribbon and some red hemp twine. I embellished it with a little holly sprig stamped with BB Santa’s Elves, colored with Copic markers, and fussy cut out before popping it up on foam mounting tape.
*****

Tag number two is a little more elegant. I started by cutting Kraft card stock with Tag Builder Blueprints 2 Die-namics, then stamped it all over with Versamark and heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder. Folks, I mentioned it before, but this embossing powder is the BOSS!! I was using Ranger embossing powder and was never really happy with coverage, but this powder that MFT is carrying is amazing!! Total coverage and a gorgeous sheen!!

OK, Then I added a strip of Black Licorice card stock cut with another element from the Tag Builder Blueprints 2 Die-namics, dry embossed with Herringbone Bricks Stencil. Next I cut Peace, Love, Joy Die-namics from gold sparkle card stock and popped it up on foam, then added ribbon and baker’s twine to finish it off!

And that’s it for me for today! Thanks so much for stopping by—see you soon!

Merry Christmas–SSSC #296

SSSC296_2015nov22

Hi, and welcome to this week’s Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! Another classic sketch from Karen that was so much fun to work with!

SSSC296_2015nov

I’ve had this idea in my head for a while and finally got around to doing it. I started with a Stone Gray card stock base. Next is Sweet Tooth card stock stenciled with Snowfall Stencil and molding paste. Then I added a Black Licorice card stock strip, with the sentiment from Winter Wonderland stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. I tied around some hemp baker’s twine and tied a bow for the “flower” element. For the circle element, I cut Sweet Tooth card stock with Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics and sponged a night sky with a lit skyline.

SSSC296_2015nov22b

Then I added Skyline Border Die-namics, cut from Steel Gray card stock and a strip of Sweet Tooth card stock cut with Blueprint 1 Die-namics to mimic a snowy city street. The car is the taxi from London Mouse and London Mouse Die-namics and the tree is from Winter Wonderland and Winter Wonderland Die-namics, both cut from Ranger watercolor paper and colored with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. I splattered on some thinned down Copic Opaque White for the snow and finished off with the upper right element: Black Licorice card stock cut with Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics, stamped with Snowflake Flurry in Versamark, heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, and popped up on foam. What a fun card to make!! I love my little scene and hope you do, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by—see you soon!

Warm Wishes–C4C #313

C4C313_2015nov21

Hello, and thanks for stopping by for today’s Crazy 4 Challenges post. This is sketch week and I’m loving Joanne’s sketch!

11220136_10205792084735194_2655392536170001429_n
I started with a Grout Gray card stock base, then added a Sweet Tooth card stock layer on which I adhered a piece of Sweet Tooth that I stamped with Bold Diagonal Stripes Background in Black Licorice dye ink. For the vertical element, I simply tied around some hemp baker’s twine. The oval element was created using Double Stitched Oval STAX Die-namics, Snow Drifts Die-namics, Tree Lines Die-namics, and BB Toasty Greetings stamp set and BB Toasty Greetings Die-namics.

I did a watercolor wash on the background using Peerless Watercolors and the images were colored with Zig Clean Color Brush markers and dimension was achieved with foam mounting tape.

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you, including our November Guest Designer, Karen Dunbrook!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C313.
