I'm using the soon-to-be-released Christmas Ornaments Die-namics and Stamp Set for my projects.today. First of all, I created a wall hanging using the ornaments in the traditional way.
I die-cut the shapes first, then stamped the snowflake and star burst with silver pigment ink and heat embossed with fine detail embossing powder. I cut the caps from silver metallic card stock and added silver cord from which to "hang" them. I added some silver holly leaves (love this die!!) and some blue gems for highlights before putting it in the frame.
Here you see it hanging on my wall. The light isn't strong but you can see the embossed layer under the ornaments better in this shot. I love this--it really looks good hanging on my wall.
For this project, I created a card, using the long ornament shape in a different way. This shape reminded me of a C7 light bulb, so I was inspired to created a light string with it.
First of all, I die cut the shape from colored card stock then coated them with Crystal Effects. Then I die cut the caps from black card stock and attached them to the bulbs. Next, I drew my "wire" with a pencil. I tried doing it freehand and wasted two sheets of card stock before the light bulb (sorry!) came on. So, I laid out my bulbs in the arrangement I wanted and then drew the wire in, then stitched over it with black thread and attached my bulbs. I added a black flat-back pearl to the hole area. I love how this turned out, too! Oh, yeah, I'm going to be using this set a lot :)
Here's the inside, where I created a sentiment from several of the words in the set.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget, you can get your hands on this set tonight at 10pm! Hope to see you stopping by for the New Release Product Tour, also starting at 10pm!
