Hi, everyone! It’s time for MFT’s April Teaser Time! This month we’re ushering in some changes to our Teaser Time format. You can get all the details about the changes and prize opportunities at the MFT Blog. The new release products will be available at My Favorite Things on April 9th at 10 PM EST.
Today I’m showing you a new Lisa Johnson set, LJD Sweet Roses. Goodness, but Lisa has hit another one out of the park! This set has a coordinating Die-namics set, Die-namics LJD Roses and Leaves, and I’m going to show you several cards using this set in different ways.
First up, who doesn’t like a long-stemmed red rose, right? You can have one any time you want with this set. I stamped the line drawing rose on MFT’s new Smooth White card stock with Black Licorice ink and over stamped with the solid rose image with Wild Cherry ink. To give my rose a little dimension, I used a Copic marker to add some shading.
I found it worked well to then stamp the leaves, first with black ink, then I overstamped with Sour Apple ink. Since I wanted a long stemmed rose, I added the stem from LJD Pretty Poppies, first with black, then green ink. I stamped the sentiment—from LJD Sweet Roses, with Black Licorice ink and tied around a sweet little black and red checked ribbon.
I used another sentiment from the set on the inside:
For my second card, I used the full open rose and masked an arrangement. After I stamped all the roses and leaves (there are two sizes of each) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Classic Crest Cover, Solar White Smooth, 110lb, I colored them with Copic markers. I thought this would make a really nice sympathy card so I stamped the sentiment, from More Essential Sentiments, on the outside and added three silver flat beads for balance.
The inside has another sentiment from More Essential Sentiments:
My third card is a bit different and uses the coordinating dies. I started with a Kraft card stock base and added a Die-namics Dizzy Doily Duo die cut. Then I made my own patterned paper using MFT background stamps, and cut it with Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX. The Kraft flag was stamped on Sweet Tooth card stock with Kraft ink and a background from LJD Spring Backgrounds. The Sour Apple card stock flag was stamped with Sour Apple ink with LJD Darling Dots. And lastly, the pink one was stamped with Pink Lemonade ink and the soon-to-be-released LLD Mod Borders.
Then I cut out the roses, stamped the line drawing with Black Licorice ink and stamped the solid stamp with Pink Lemonade ink. They were arranged like I wanted and leaves cut, stamped, and slipped into place. The sentiment was stamped with Black Licorice ink…
…as was the sentiment on the inside.
For my final card, I went with a bright color scheme for my
die cut and stamped roses. After I cut them out, I stamped
the line drawings with a new color of ink being released this
month: Hot Fudge ink. SO excited—I’ve been NEEDING
this color! The roses were then stamped with, from right to
left, Grape Jelly ink, Lemon Drop ink, Wild Cherry ink, Razzle Berry ink, and another new ink this month, Orange Fizz ink. Totally loving this color, too!
My card base is Hot Fudge card stock and I added a Sweet Tooth card stock panel under the roses. The sentiment is from LJD Sweet Roses and was also stamped with Hot Fudge ink. I added a flat back pearl to the center of each rose and tucked more die cut and stamped leaves around the roses.
The inside has another sentiment from the set, stamped with Hot Fudge ink.
