Aloha–CTD #289

CTD289_2014apr23

Hi, everyone, and welcome to this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge! Monika is our host this week and she’s been inspired by this gorgeous butterfly image

swatch 289

These colors made me think “tropical” for some reason so that’s the direction into which I went. Not sure I arrived, LOL, but I headed there. I started by making a Hibiscus Die-namics flower using Grapesicle card stock, Insulation Pink card stock, and Gumdrop Green card stock. I made the center spike from a pipe cleaner that I colored with a Copic marker. The background was air brushed with Copic markers in the attempt to create a sunset. I left it “splotchy” intentionally to create the illusion of clouds. The sentiment was made by cutting Sweet Tooth card stock with LLD Little Lowercase Letters Die-namics and popping them up on foam. This panel was popped up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base and finished off with some matching sequins.

The inside has a sentiment from MPD Tropical Sensations, stamped with Black Licorice Hybrid ink.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD289 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!
