The Purr-fect Gift--My Favorite Things' Sketch Challenge #100!!!

OMGosh!!! Can you believe this is My Favorite Things' Sketch Challenge #100!!?? Wowza! And what a great sketch it is!!! You can find out all the details at MFT Member Company Forum on SCS. This was a super fun card to make. I decided that I'd really better get a move on making Christmas cards, so here's another one.

For this card I chose an older set: Peppermint Cats. Again going with non-traditional colors, I broke out my new Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly Mini Deck. I've been itching to use these papers 'cause they're so stinkin' cute! I stamped the image on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic markers. I used some Stickles on the stars, some Liquid Applique for the Santa hat fur, and paper pieced the bottom part. I matted the image on a layer cut/embossed with a Nestabilities Label Four die, sponged the edges and popped it up on 3M foam squares. I used a snowflake border punch for the second element (although it's mostly covered up!), some lace for the horizontal elements, and buttons from my stash and PTI twine for the top accents. Lots of distressing--both ink and sanding--on just about all of the elements. I tried to make the sentiment element look like a gift box. Did it work?

We'd love for you to come play along with us. Head on over to the forum and join in the fun--there's a prize for some lucky someone :)

Thanks for dropping in today!

BOO to you!!!

Flopsey's a ghost!!! I swear, I cannot get enough of that little bunny! Look at him all dressed up as a ghost! Cracks me up! This set is Who's That Ghost: Flopsey and I'm using My Favorite Things' Sketch Challenge #99 for my layout.

Flopsey was stamped on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers--not much to color on this one, LOL. Flopsey and his little treat bag were cut out and popped up with 3M foam squares. Patterned paper is from Martha Stewart's Halloween collection and card stock is Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, and Old Olive. The sentiment was cut/embossed with Classic Circle Nestabilities dies and has some little black flat-backed pearls for accent.

Come on over to MFT Company Forum at SCS and join in the fun--in addition to the sketch challenge, there's My Favorite Challenge, both of which have a prize.

Thanks for dropping in today!

Too [stinkin'] Cute to Spook

Too Cute to Spook is the name of this My Favorite Things' set in the September release and it's now available. I love it!!! It truly is just too cute!!! You can see lots of samples from this new release if you take the blog hop. Start at Kim's blog and you're on your way!

Today starts a new week at MFT Member Company Forum at SCS and that means a new sketch challenge and a new My Favorite Challenge. Hop on over there and get all the deets. I'm using this week's sketch for this card and it's a fun one!
I first stamped the tree (all images are stamped on Perfect Paper Panels) and the fence panels twice, and lastly the bats (on what was to be the bottom image). Then I used my Copic air brush system and added the grass and the orange "glow" in the sky. I stamped the little witch twice, colored her, and cut her out, the cat once, and glued them in place on the bottom image.

I then carefully cut one tree out with a circle Nestabilities die, matted it with Basic Black, added the second cut-out witch, and popped the whole thing up on 3M foam squares.

After the main image was done and matted with Basic Black, I used Basic Black, Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, and Halloween striped paper for the base card. The horizontal element is Basic Black with Elegant Eggplant "goo", made with a Martha Stewart punch. Craft store ribbon tied on with a black button and Perle cotton finish that off. I stamped the sentiment on Pumpkin Pie with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, cut it into individual words, and glued them on. I totally LOVE this card--hope you do too!

I'm so glad you stopped by today!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge--#96

Good morning!! It's Thursday--yippee!!! That means tomorrow is Friday and then a weekend off!!! Saturday I'm going to a scrapbook/stamping store with about 12 other fanatics--can't wait. There's a ton of stuff I need to be doing at home, but, hey, you all understand, right? ;-) Usually my DH is along and although he never rushes me, I *feel* rushed, KWIM? This time, I'll be with kindred spirits, LOL!

OK, on to today's projects. It's time for another My Favorite Things' Sketch and My Favorite Challenge over at the Member Company Forum on SCS. I'm showing both in this post because I hope to have some sneaky peaks of next week's releases for you over the weekend and tomorrow I'll have my Stamp Simply card. So many cards, so few days ;-)

Here's the sketch. I just got Cosmo Cricket's new Early Bird 6 x 6 pad. OMGosh,I love it!!!! I really hope they'll do all their collections in this size!!! So, the mechanics of this card are pretty obvious, I think. I stamped Birthday Flopsey on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, colored him with Copic markers and cut him out. Then I cut/embossed an oval with Very Vanilla and sponged it to closely match the DP background with distress ink. Flopsey's cake is paper pieced and he's up on 3M foam squares. The little side elements are ribbon with buttons tied on with linen thread.

~Recipe~
Stamps: Birthday Flopsey (MFT)
Paper: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow (SU!); Early Bird 6 x 6 pad (Cosmo Cricket); Perfect Paper Panels (MFT)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities dies; 3M foam squares, ribbon (craft store); Copic markers; buttons (stash); border punch (Martha Stewart); linen thread (SU!)

OK, on to My Favorite Challenge for this week. The challenge is to make a Christmas (or holiday if Christmas is not your thing) ornament. I'd been wanting to try out this technique I saw on SCS, so I gave it a try.

I stamped Peppermint Cats on shrink plastic with black StazOn ink and CAREFULLY colored it with Copic markers. I say carefully because Copic markers will smear StazOn. Seriously smear it. And water based markers take *forevah* to dry, but Copic markers dry right away. OK, so it's colored and cut out. I cut off the bottom half of the image because I knew the tails would curl up and stick to themselves if I cut them out and the entire image was too large to get into the ornament. So, here's the finished product. Kinda cute, huh? I don't like the cap wires showing, so if I do more of these I'll have to figure out what to do with them ;-) And, I shoulda stamped the sentiment on the outside. Duh! ;-)

~Recipe~
Stamps: Peppermint Cats (MFT)
Paper: none
Ink: StazOn black
Accessories: shrink plastic, clear glass ornament, Perle cottonm ribbon (craft store); oven; Copic markers; 1/8" hole punch

I'm so glad you stopped by today!

Celebrate MFT--I {Heart} my PSFs

I was going through my My Favorite Things' WTG sets and ran across Who's That e-Girl. I realized I hadn't used her for a while so I decided to bring her out for this week's sketch challenge card. Plus, today is Celebrate MFT Day--always on the 20th of each month.

WTG was stamped on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers and paper pieced. I then matted the focal image with card stock from a DCWV Neutrals mat stack and Soft Suede. Patterned paper is from the Maple Crest Ct. collection by Heidi Grace. The @ paper clip came from Office Max. It started life as silver-colored, but I got out my handy dandy Copic air brush system and colored it green to match the ribbon. Love that air brush system. And to think--at one point I said I'd *never* need it. Ha! Some brads for accent and the sentiment finish it off!

Be sure to stop by MFT Member Company Forum to get the new sketch and My Favorite Challenge for the coming week. Also, to Celebrate MFT, we have a customer blog hop starting at 11am EDT. Hope you'll join us!

I'm so glad you stopped by today!

Grillin' and Chillin'

Summer's winding down, so we're planning a little get together with some friends for a cookout at our house in a couple of weeks. I decided rather than email or call them, to send this invitation. Grillin' Guy was feelin' a little lonesome, so I dragged him out to help. I'm using this week's new My Favorite Things' sketch challenge layout for this card and I'm lovin' it! I'll be using this one more in the future!

My card base is Kraft with layers of Gable Green (I think this is the VERY first time I've ever used Gable Green--yeehaw!!!), Groovy Guava, and DP from Nana's Kitchen mat stack by DCWV with some stitching (yeah, I'm becoming addicted to stitching, LOL). Pewter brads accent every corner. I stamped the main image on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it with Copic markers, but Grillin' Guy's apron is paper pieced. I love how my coals turned out--I used Amy Sheffer's HTDT tutorial, which is great!! Then I layered it on more Groovy Guava and Gable Green and stitched around it, as well, and popped it up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment was stamped on Kraft with Rich Cocoa ink, punched out with the Designer Lable punch, matted on a Gable Green 1 3/8" circle, with a pewter brad accent. It's also up on foam squares. Then I added a ribbon on a pewter spiral clip with a pewter charm hanging from it. I love this card.

Here's the inside, ready for the message:

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge--#93

I can't believe it's Thursday already! Where is this week going? One week ago I was on the road heading to Orlando and CHA! This week has just whizzed by!

OK, enough of that, LOL. Because it's Thursday, we have new challenges for you over at the My Favorite Things forum on Splitcoast. Today I have a card using this week's sketch--#93.

I'm using an image from the last release, Feelin' Fruity. I love these little cherries :) I stamped it on Perfect Paper Panels with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Copic markers, and cut the image out and popped it up on 3M foam squares. The base card is Whisper White with layers of Old Olive, Real Red, and DSP from the Tart and Tangy collection (retired). The next element uses three different Nestabilities dies and is also up on foam squares. Ribbon is from the Polka Dot collection at MFT, and the little red center button is from the summer collection. The green button is from PTI. The sentiment was cut/embossed with a Spellbinders tag die.

Hope you'll come on over to the My Favorite Thing's Member Company Forum and check out the challenges and play along. As always, there are prizes to be won :)

Happy Tails To You--MFTSC92

My layout is this week's My Favorite Things' sketch challenge. Check it out here, and while you're at it, check out the newest My Favorite Challenge in the same thread. We have a new one of each every Thursday on the forum and use that thread for chatting throughout the week.

This is the first time for me to use this set by Stephnie Fizer called Snuggle Bunnies. I just love how sweet those two little bunnies look snuggled up together! I think I'll use this one as an anniversary card ;-) The image was stamped on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers, then cut out. Oh, and I used Liquid Applique on the bunnies tails.

The patterned paper I'm using is Periphery by Basic Grey--I think it's OK for an anniversary card--this would be great paper to use for a masculine card, too! Other than the Whisper White card base, there's no other card stock used on this card--it's all patterned paper. Again, I think the mechanics of this card are self-explanatory.

We hope you'll play along with the sketch--and My Favorite Challenge this week--there are prizes to be won :)

AND! As you read this I'm on my way to CHA!! Hey that rhymes, LOL! Woohoo! Can't wait to meet all the MFT girls that are going to be there, and my CTD pal, Broni! And many other people that I don't know yet! And see all the new stuff!!! I'll try to post some pictures while I'm gone, but if not, I'll be sure to share lots when I get back!

I'm so glad you stopped by today!

Cafe' Flopsey--MFTSC91

I still love I Need Coffee Flopsey so much!!!! Apparently I'm not the only one--he seems to be sold out! Do check back often--he'll be back! I ran across this paper at Archivers and of course I had to have it--it's perfect with him!

My layout is this week's My Favorite Things' sketch challenge. Check it out here, and while you're at it, check out the newest My Favorite Challenge in the same thread. We have a new one of each every Thursday on the forum and use that thread for chatting throughout the week.

Flopsey is stamped on Perfect Paper Panels with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers, then cut out and popped up on 3M foam squares. My patterned paper is called Coffee Talk and it's by Flair Designs. Card stock is Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel. I think everything is pretty self expanatory. Flopsey's background element was cut/embossed with Oval Nestabilities dies and the Creamy Caramel run through my Cuttlebug with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder--to match the swirls of steam from his coffee cup :) I used a corner rounder on the two outside corners and a border punch on the horizontal element. A few cafe' au lait colored brads complete the look, don't you think?

We hope you'll play along with the sketch--and My Favorite Challenge this week--there are prizes to be won :)

I'm using My Favorite Things' Tea For Two, which seems to be sold out right now, but keep checking back. The sentiment inside says, "You give 'Bag Lady' a whole new meaning." Heh, heh.

You Deserve a Break--MFTSC #85

Today I'm showing you a card using My Favorite Things' Sketch Challenge for this week. You can read about it and our other challenge for this week, My Favorite Challenge here. We'd love for you to come on over and join in--there's a prize for a lucky winner each week for each challenge.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Chocolate Chip, Pretty In Pink, and DP from My Favorite Things' Chocolate Kiss paper by Stephanie Fizer. I think all the elements are pretty self-explanatory. The focal image is from My Favorite Things' Girls Day In set. I stamped it with Memento Rich Cocoa on DP and then again on a Perfect Paper Panel. It was mostly paper pieced with a little coloring with Copic markers. Then I popped it up on 3M foam squares on a Pretty In Pink layer cut/embossed with Nestabilities Label Four die and a layer cut with more DP. The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, cut/embossed with a small Labels Four die and popped up on foam squares. The nail polish was colored with Copic markers and is also up on foam squares. I added a few rhinestones from the Chocolate Kiss May VIP package to the punched border and a couple at the top to finish it off.

I'm so glad you dropped by today. Don't forget to check out the challenges.

Flopsey's Flowers--Color Throwdown #38

It's another Color Throwdown day--#38!!! I have so much fun with these challenges! This week our hostess with the mostess is Broni Holcombe. Broni chose Basic Gray, Ruby Red, and Baja Breeze for her colors.

I must admit these colors were giving me some trouble until I remembered Flopsey!!! Flopsey saved the day!!! Three cheers for Flopsey! Don't you just LOVE him? Look at that sweet little face!!!

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, and Muirfield DSP. The next element is Basic Gray, Ruby Red, and Whisper White with the Posy backgrounder stamped in Ruby Red and on top of that is a strip of Basic Gray. The focal image is from MFTs newest Flopsey release, Flopsey's Flowers. I stamped it three times on Gina K Pure Luxury 80 lb paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored one entire image with Copic markers (see below) and only the flowers twice. I cut the flowers out and layered one on Flopsey's bouquet and added one to the Basic Gray strip, both of them popped up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment is from MFT Sassy Sayings and was stamped on Whisper White with Ruby Red, punched out with a 1" punch and layered on a 1 3/8" Basic Gray punch out. Three pewter brads accent the lower edge.

C'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD38 so we can see your beauty all in one place. And if you play, you *could* be picked as our Featured Stamper and a guest designer! Hope to see you there!

Easter Greetings--Color Throwdown #37

[Don't forget to vote for your favorite Idol contestant (hopefully me!) from 10pm EDT tonight, April 7th until 10pm EDT tomorrow night April 8th! You'll find the poll here.]

Yippee! It's Color Throwdown day!!! We're up to #37! Today's colors are Pirouette Pink, Cameo Coral, and Sage Shadow, chosen by LeAnne Pugliese, who is our hostess today.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Sage Shadow, Cameo Coral, and Pirouette Pink, on which I did a little paper piercing. The next element is Sage Shadow and Cameo Coral, both with punched borders, and a layer of DP from the Two Scoops 6 x 6 pad by Basic Grey with a Pirouette Pink wannabe double-faced satin ribbon tied 'round in a bow. The focal image is from the MFT Happy Mother's Day set and was stamped on Gina K Pure Luxury 80 lb with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. It was paper pieced/colored with Copic markers (see below) and is layered on Pirouette Pink and Cameo Coral. Then it was popped up with 3M foam squares on Sage Shadow that was cut/embossed with my new Labels Three Nestabilities die which was also popped up on foam squares. The sentiment is from MFT Hoppy Easter set and was stamped in the same way, punched out with a 1" circle punch, and layered on the challenge colors that were punched with the small oval punch. The oval flat-backed pearls are from Martha Stewart--I thought they resembled eggs, LOL.
