Hope You Can Cling To - Bosom Buddies

Happy Monday! On this Monday, I'm so honored to be making a sample for my bestie, Tammy Hershberger. Tammy is hosting a challenge today over at Splitcoast Stampers for their month long Breast Cancer Awareness event. You can see all the challenges HERE.

Here's Tammy's challenge in her own words:

"Being the daughter of a breast cancer survivor (Hooray for my Mom, an 18+ year survivor!) she often reminds me (NAGS me!) about getting my mammograms on time! And although I couldn't find any specific program in a Google search, I have always heard about the idea that you should have a good friend who is your reminder'er.... someone who makes sure you get your mammogram done, and you remind her, too! Someone who reminds you to do your monthly checks, and vice versa. So for my challenge today, I just want us to focus on friendship and this dreaded disease that unfortunately strikes way too many! Make a card that incorporates pink and ribbon, with a friendship theme!"

First of all, HOORAY FOR TAMMY'S MOM!!!! What a wonderful milestone for her!! And HOORAY for all of the women (and men) who have beaten this horrible disease! 

And next, here's my card. I chose to work with one of MFT's latest releases, Who's That Girl Chooses Hope. What better way to show that we're all in this together and the role friendship plays in keeping healthy. The sentiment is from an older, but no less meaningful MFT set, Think Pink.

And, on the inside, a little bit humorous sentiment that brings a smile to your face about an otherwise deadly serious subject. This sentiment is from MFT's Twisted Too. 

OK, so I think I've covered all the challenge points: friendship: check, pink: check, and ribbon: check.

Aurumn Leaves - C4C #108

Happy Saturday! Since it *IS* Saturday, it's time for Crazy 4 Challenges! Tammy continues as our host this month, and today she's challenging us to use leaves on our card or project. So, trees have leaves, right? And see the little leaves on the tree to the right. Yep, leaves :) As you can tell, I love to do scrappy cards and this one just came together exactly as I "saw" it in my head. I love when that happens :) I built my little scene with MFT's Flat Bottomed Clouds Die-namics and the Tear Drop Tree Die-namics dies, some patterned paper from Jillybean Soup's Apple Cheddar Soup, and some sweet brown gingham ribbon.

Heavy Metal - Flourishes Pre-Release Challenge

Are you ready for Flourishes' Pre-Release Challenge! Yep, that's right, Flourishes' October release is just around the corner, and I'll give you a little hint--you're gonna be WOWed with what we've got to show you this month!

This month's Pre-Release Challenge is all about precious metals. Silver, gold, copper or bronze, whichever metal you pick, just make it take center stage on your card or creation! FLLCOCT11. Deadline is October 14th at 5 PM Eastern.

Since I'm in an Autumn frame of mind, I chose to use the Falling Leaves stamp set for my card. I positioned a selection of leaves on my card stock the way I wanted them, then carefully lowered my acrylic block on top of the stamps so I'd preserve my placement. Then I inked up the stamps with Versamark, stamped, and heat embossed with fine detail copper embossing powder. Then I stamped the sentiment and added the green flat back pearls--I just colored some white pearls with a Copic marker--for balance. I'm using this copper metallic paper and the border was cut with my Grand Calibur and my Classic Scallop Edgeabilities. I'm using THIS ribbon.

The Cutest Pumpkin In the Patch - MFTWSC #40

Yep, I’m back again with MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Here’s this week’s sketch. You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

And here's my card. I'm using another new MFT release, PI - Pumpkin Patch Girl. Can I just say I'm wild about this little sweetie!!

I colored her with Copic markers and then cut her out, popping her up on the round element with a Flat Bottom Clouds Die-namics die cut for interest. The black mat for the round element was made with my Open Scallop Doily Die-namics die. For the horizontal element I added some Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics die cuts and the sentiment was stamped on a First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics flag.

Here's the inside--I couldn't resist paper piecing those pumpkins again :)

Sending Hugs, Kisses, and Get Well Wishes - CTD #162

Are you ready for some Color Throwdown? Today's host is Tammy and she chose some sweet colors, inspired by MME Lost & Found Paris & Co. paper collection. 

Here's my card, using MFT's adorable new PI - Girl Doctor. Wouldn't she make anyone feel better?

My brown is showing up like black, but I promise it's Early Espresso. And I didn't have any Creamy Caramel so I substituted River Rock. I colored the little cutie with Copic markers and then cut her out, framing her with the First Class Friend Die-namics die cut. The sentiment was stamped on the new Oval Tab Die-namics die cut and tucked up under the edge of the frame. I also used the new Postage Stamp Edge Die-namics die for the horizontal element. Some seam binding, a button, some twine, and some stick pins finish it off.
