Enjoy the View–Crazy 4 Challenges #125

C4C125_2012feb25

It’s Saturday so it’s time for Crazy 4 Challenges! Today Lynda is challenging us to make a TWO layer card. It took a little thought, but I came up with this sweet little card. Pretty simple but sorta elegant in a modern kinda way.

I cut out my
Skyline Border Die-namics die from some silver metallic paper and adhered it to my card stock, then tied a little pink and black gingham bow around and through a button. Then I stamped the sentiment, from Clearly Sentimental About Summer Vacation and added some clear gemstones in the “sky”. I really like how it turned out.

I stamped another sentiment from the same set on the inside. This would be a great card for someone getting ready to go on a trip.

Here is the Die-namics die I used on this card:

And that's all for me for me! Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C125.

Birthday Blog Hop!!!

Birthday Blog Hop Graphic copy

Let’s light the candles and strike up the music!! The owner of Flourishes – Jan Marie Caruso – is celebrating a birthday and we’re helping her by getting the party started with just about the entire Flourishes Crew!  Why not leave some love on her blog HERE and while you are hopping around, pay a visit to the Flourishes team members who are honoring her special day!

Happy Birthday, Jan Marie! You are a beautiful lady, inside and out and I am so honored to be able to work for Flourishes. I hope you have the best birthday ever, because no one deserves it more than you!

I decided to make Jan Marie’s card using the February flower from
A Year In Flowers, Set 1. I love every flower in all three sets—the size is perfect for card making.

I stamped the beautiful primrose image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with these Copic Collections:

After I cut it out with the Tailor-Made Classic Keyhole Die Set I added the sentiment on vellum and covered the foam dots with pearls. I embossed the background panel and added THIS ribbon.

Then I stamped another sentiment on the inside with an image from
Tag Lines.

You’re so Tweet–MFTWSC #60

MFTWSC60_2012feb22

Are you ready for another MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge? Here’s this week’s sketch. You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC60

AS you can see, I flipped the orientation of the sketch but otherwise followed the layout. I pulled out my Homespun Birdhouse Die-namics and Stamp Set for this scrappy card. I cut all of the elements from patterned paper and arranged my little scene.

Here’s a close up of the sweet little birdie. I attached the front part of the wing directly to the bird’s body and popped the end up on a bit of foam for dimension. The bird is perching on a
Branch With Leaves Die-namics die cut.

MFTWSC60_2012feb22close1

I added a twine-tied button and attached the sentiment, which was stamped on a First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics fishtail die, on top of a Open Scallop Edge Die-namics border.

Here’s the birdhouse up close. I cut the hole out and popped up some paper on foam strips to add dimension to this, then adhered it to the card.

And here’s the inside, with another sentiment from the set. What an adorable way to say thank you, don’t you think?

I Always Love Hearing From You–CTD #180

CTD180_2012feb22

Hello, and welcome to this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lori is our host and here are the lovely colors she chose:

swatch 180

Sooooo. I had to dig to find some patterned papers that had these colors in it, LOL! I finally settled on Basic Grey’s Picadilly which has all the colors—and then some ;-)

I’m using
MFT’s Well Worn Greetings Die-namics and Stamp Set for my card. I stamped the sentiment on some Whip Cream card stock with dark gray ink, cut it out, and popped it up on some patterned paper die cuts, added some ribbon and buttons, some stitching and this adorable butterfly using a Butterflies Die-namics die cut. I added some Copic-colored pearls to the butterfly’s body.

Here’s the focal panel with the entire sentiment—love the rustic look of the sentiments in this set.

And here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:

I have two cards for you tonight; I think they’re twins, since I decided to use the same paper for both :)

For PI – Cowboy: first of all I stamped him and mostly colored the image with Copic markers, paper piecing his shirt. I matted the image panel and popped it up on foam dots and added a sentiment from the set using the a
Chat Bubbles Die-namics die .

Here you can see one of the Country Charms Die-namics dies—the horseshoe. Isn’t it adorable?! I did some “saddle stitch” sewing around several of the elements for that western feel, and added a Jumbo Monarch Border Die-namics border.

VIPcowboy_2012feb21b

Here are his boots—I wanted it to look like copper on the toes ;-)

VIPcowboy_2012feb21c

And here is his adorable paper pieced shirt.

VIPcowboy_2012feb21d

Here’s the inside with a sentiment from Country Charm Sentiments Mini on another Chat Bubbles Die-namics die cut. Perfect for a guy card!

VIPcowboy_2012feb21e

And now, on to PI – Cowgirl. She was also colored with Copic markers for the most part—with a paper pieced vest. She was matted with an
Oval Dainty Doily Die-namics die cut and she also has a sentiment from the set using a Chat Bubbles Die-namics die cut.

VIPcowgirl_2012feb21

Here is the new Royal Rose Die-namics in action. This rose was designed to look more realistic on the edges and is a joy to make! Some Upsy Daisy Die-namics leaves were added on top of a twine bow. I used some more feminine stitching on her card.

VIPcowgirl_2012feb21b

Here’s a close up of her paper pieced vest. Too cute!! I was trying for a buckskin look with her dress—did it work?

VIPcowgirl_2012feb21c

And here’s the inside with another Chat Bubbles Die-namics die cut with another sentiment from Country Charm Sentiments Mini. I just LOVE these sentiments!
