I fell totally in LOVE with PI – Lady Liberty so I just had to use her. She’s colored with Copic markers, then cut out and popped up on foam. For the base card, I’m using two sizes of the new Die-namics Designer Label 2 STAX behind her, and I added some bling to simulate fireworks. Did it work? I wanted some bunting, too, so I simply cut out five sizes of Die-namics Circle STAX from patterned paper and layered them up in a bunting formation. It’s finished off with some twill and some postal twine, sponged with Antique Linen Distress ink for some, well, distressing :) I really love how this card turned out—another one that came OUT of my head the way I pictured it IN my head.
Here’s the inside with PI - Lady Liberty again and a sentiment from the set.
For my second card today, I’m using the new Vanity License Plate Die-namics and Stamp Set on the front. I impressed the license plate die where I wanted it and then stamped the letters and sentiment. I added a Die-namics Large Leafy Flourish and a new Die-namics Hibiscus.
Here’s what you’ll need to make this hibiscus: Crystal Effects or similar product, die cuts, yellow pipe cleaner, gold micro beads. I’m thinking fine glitter would work just as well, but I had the beads so I used them. I picked them up over a year ago at Michaels because, well, you know, because they were there ;-)
OK, first thing is to cut off about 1” of your pipe cleaner and trim the fuzz off about half of it. I just used scissors and trimmed it off. This cuts down on the bulk on the back side of your flower. Not entirely necessary, I guess, but you’ll get a better finished product.
Next, I coated the end of what was left of the fuzz with Crystal Effects—about half of what was left. Less would be OK, but no more than half. I *have* used hot glue but it sets up really fast so you have to work fast. If that’s what you have, give it a try!
Then I dipped the wet end into my beads. They’ll scatter, yes they will. And you’ll have to knock off a lot of them to get a good look.
OK, now make your flower and punch an 1/8” hole in the center.
Once the beads have set up, bend your wire like this:
Slip it through the hole and adhere it to the back. I used hot glue and was kinda sloppy—no matter, you have to work fast with hot glue and it won’t be seen. Use whatever adhesive you have if you don’t have hot glue. Drying/set up time will vary, depending on what you use.
And here’s the finished flower from the front. I love how this stamen looks so real!
Here’s a close up of the license plate and sentiment.
And here’s the inside, with PI – Hula Girl and a sentiment from that set.
Here are the Die-namics dies I used on these cards:
