For my first card, I’m using Clearly Sentimental About Art and some new-this-month dies: Die-namics Designer Label 2 STAX and Die-namics Hexagons. Hexagons are HOT right now and, as always, MFT is right there for you with all the latest and greatest. This card was one of those “right out of my head” designs—everything went together exactly as I envisioned it and I love the results.
The first thing I did was to make my hexagon strip. You’ll notice the die set has two pieces—one piece is the “base”, which is a solid line of hexagons with score lines between each hexagon, and another piece that cuts out single hexagons in two sizes. So, I cut my base from Black Licorice card stock and then cut my individual hexes using the smaller size in four graduating shades of blue and one in Tangy Orange. I adhered the smaller sections onto the base strip in a rather unexpected order (hopefully echoing the sentiment, LOL!) Then I popped it up on a card base with a black bling flourish. To finish it off, I cut the sentiment panel from Kraft card stock using the new Die-namics Designer Label 2 STAX set, stamped the sentiment, and popped it up on foam, as well. I love this artsy card. Just. Love. It!
Here’s the inside, with another sentiment from the set:
Now, card #2. This set has big and bold sentiments—perfect as the focal image on a card, so I stamped my sentiment on a Die-namics Designer Label 2 STAX die cut of Sweet Tooth card stock. Then I cut another one the same size, using Black Licorice card stock, cut it in half, longwise, and adhere the halves to my sentiment panel for a bit of matting.
Then I proceeded to make my background paper from die cuts. I cut three copies of the large black and white polka dots using the “base” die, split one (for the top and bottom), and laid them all out on some black card stock. Then I cut three of the “base” die using black card stock. Next I cut a strip of the single hexes using three smaller, colored dotted papers and adhered the singles to the solid black bases, alternating sizes. It takes a little time and accurate measuring, but it’s totally worth it to get one-of-a-kind backgrounds, don’t you think? Just imagine all the combinations you can come up with—the number is limited only by your imagination! I thought this card needed only a sheer bow and some sweet little colored gems to finish it off.
Here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:
Here are the Die-namics dies I used on these cards:
And that’s it from me! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope to see you back tomorrow for Day Four!
