With Deepest Sympathy–CTD #229

CTD229_2013feb13

Hi, everyone, and welcome to this week’s Color Throwdown challenge! Wanda chose some really sweet colors based on her equally sweet inspiration piece.

This is the first card I’ve made since my hand surgery over a month ago and it had to be super simple! I remembered I had some of this paper in my stash and that it would be perfect for these colors (I can’t bear to part with paper for just this reason!). So, first of all I stamped the sentiment from MFT’s More Essential Sentiments on Whip Cream card stock using my new Fiskars stamp press. Do you use one of these? I thought it would work well since I still can’t hold a stamping block and I was right! I love this thing so much that I bought two more smaller Martha Stewart versions. I may never go back to regular stamping blocks again!

But I digress.

Using my Die-namics Square STAX I cut out some squares, popped them up on foam (the hardest part since I’m still not allowed to use my right hand). After they were in place, I nipped a groove in each side of the card base with an 1/8” punch and tied around some olive green jute twine in a bow. This was accomplished with the use of tweezers and, yes, my teeth, LOL! Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD229 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

  7. Wow, I love the quilted look that these squares create! I was thinking and wondering earlier this week how your hand was coming along. As a rehab nurse, I know that lots can be done in alternative ways than we'd ever imagine! Teeth are useful for more than chewing - lol!
