Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.
When I first saw this sketch all I could think about was Christmas ornaments! But I did not want to do Christmas ornaments, LOL! So I did some out-of-the-box thinking and came up with butterfly trails instead of the lines. I’m thinking it works :) So, after I planned it out, I covered a Sweet Tooth Card stock card base with Black & White Dots Paper Pack—I’m using this a lot lately—falling in love with it all over again! Then I did a watercolor wash on Some Ranger Watercolor paper, splattered it first with clear water then black and silver acrylic inks, allowing it to dry between each application.
While it was drying I created my butterflies, cut from Silver Sparkle card stock with Black Licorice bodies and the sentiment from Playful Peacock, heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock and framed with Silver Sparkle card stock, cut with Fishtail Flag Frames Die-namics. When the background was dry, stamped the trails from Meant to Bee Stamp Set with Extreme Black hybrid ink, and popped it up on foam mounting tape on the card front. The butterflies and the sentiment element were also adhered with foam tape for the finish.
And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!
Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
