Hello - Color Throwdown Challenge #594

Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Amy Rohl is our hostess and she has an interesting color combo for us—basically neutrals but not monochromatic—interesting indeed!

I absolutely love Circle Celebration Background released by MFT a couple of months ago. I knew as soon as I saw it that I’d be using it a lot. I thought it would be perfect for an embossed resist background for this card. I stamped it on Ranger Watercolor paper with Versamark and heat embossed with clear detail embossing powder then did a watercolor wash with Ken Oliver Color Burst in Gamboge Yellow. and set it aside to dry.

Next I cut Grande Greenery – Solid Die-namics from Gravel Gray card stock and added some highlights with a fine line gray pen and Copic markers. I then cut Little Hello Die-namics from Translucent Vellum and Gold Shine card stock and adhered them together.

When the background was dry, I popped it up on a Gravel Gray card stock base with fun foam, added the greenery and hello sentiment, and finished off with some clear droplets.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the
Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD594 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd594 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

Holy Mackerel! MFT’s May Vault Release is NOW!

Hello, I’m back today with another card, using You’re Fin-tastic Stamp Set and Fishbowl Die-namics from
MFT’s May Vault Release. Another couple of products that made me VERY sad to see retired so I’m extra happy to see them back

I decided to create a shaker element for this card. To begin, I cut the second largest die from Fishbowl Die-namics (the same one used to cut out the center of the fishbowl front) from a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock then sponged it with Broken China Distress Ink, spattered with clean water. I added clear acetate card stock to the back of this opening and that became my shaker “window”. I cut Fishbowl Die-namics from Grout Gray card stock, cut out the center and adhered it to the front, lining it up with the windowed opening.

Next I cut the fish, sand, and seaweed, secured them in the fish bowl from the back, created my shaker element with bits of foam, added gold shimmer seed beads, and closed up the back with another sponged panel. Once that was done I stamped the sentiments and added the hearts, to coordinate with the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you’ve gotten a little inspiration in the last few days for some of YOUR Vault goodies. Now, go shop and I’ll see you soon!

Let’s Tool Around–MFT May Vault Release is in One Day!

One day until
MFT’s May Vault Release! I always loved Let’s Tool Around Stamp Set and Tool Time Die-namics and I’m so glad to see them back! They’re perfect for Father’s Day so be sure to snag a set tomorrow at 10am Eastern when they’re released! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details!

First off I created my tools, using Silver Shine card stock and colored the handles with Copic markers after cutting them out of No Line Coloring card stock. Once they were assembled, I “hung” on Pegboard Die-namics, which I cut from Kraft card stock and then trimmed down to fit my card design.

The sentiment, from Let’s Tool Around Stamp Set was stamped on a Sweet Tooth card stock base with Extreme Black hybrid ink. I added two patterned papers, from Woodgrain Whimsy and Spring Whimsy—I thought they gave this card a softly masculine feel—tied around some hemp cord, and popped the tool-laden pegboard up on foam tape for the finish.

And there you have it for the day two of peeks of MFT’s May’s Vault Release! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you tomorrow for Release Day!

Hello - MFT May Vault Release is in Two Days!

Two days until the next MFT Vault Release! Some of my all-time favorites will be back for a repeat performance, including these two: Spotlight Sentiments Stamp Set and Say Hello Die-namics. Release is on May 19th at 10am Eastern so make a note and be sure to stop by the

I created a shaker element with Say Hello Die-namics, coloring the die cut with Copic Markers and filling it with silver seed beads. Additionally, I stamped Spotlight Sentiments with Extreme Black hybrid ink and colored the “spotlight” section with the same markers

Once the card front was completed, I popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base, covered with Over the Rainbow Paper Pack and called it done! I’m Over the Moon for You–MFT Color Challenge #141

Hi, all, I'm back with the latest
MFT Color Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s color combo: Grout Gray, Lemon Chiffon, Lush Lagoon, and Steel Gray. All of the details about the color challenge are available on the MFT Blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I immediately saw a galaxy-type sky when I saw these colors and couldn’t get it out of my mind so I stopped fighting it ;-) To begin, I created the moon element by sponging Lemon Chiffon dye ink on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper for the moon “glow”, then moved to more outer space with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink along with Black Soot. Once that dried I splattered with slightly watered-down white craft ink and popped it up on a Sweet Tooth card stock base. To create the moon itself, I cut Lemon Chiffon card stock with Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics, sponged it with Lemon Chiffon dye ink, and stamped Distressed Patterns Stamp Set with Grout Gray dye ink, adhering it with foam tape.

The images from BB Space Explorer Stamp Set were stamped on No Line Color card stock with Extreme Black hybrid ink, cut with the coordinating Die-namics, colored with Copic markers, and popped up on the card front with foam tape. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Licorice card stock cut with Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips and also popped up with foam. I finished off with some stars, cut from Gold Sparkle card stock with Tag Builder Blueprints 6.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog. You have the chance to win a $50 in MFT voucher. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!
