Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! Lisa is our hostess this week and she has a delicious color palette picked for us based on her equally delicious inspiration piece.
Although it’s cold outside as I’m typing this blog post, we’ve had a taste of Spring and things are starting to bloom so it’s not far off. One of the first flowers of Spring is the tulip and I couldn’t wait to pull out one of my favorite sets of all time, LJD Spring Tulips.
I started by doing a watercolor wash on Ranger Watercolor Paper with Peerless Watercolors and stamped the sentiment with Black Licorice hybrid ink after it dried. Tip: Since watercolor paper is very porous dye ink will often bleed, so it’s best to use waterproof ink for any stamping.
Next I stamped the tulips from the set on X-Press It Blending Card with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored them with Copic markers, and since I was looking for a very clean look, I fussy cut them out and popped them up on foam tape. To finish off, I added some Sparkling Clear Mix Sequins and some Raindrops.
And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD436 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd436 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented March Guest Designer, Lisa Lara!
