I didn't get a chance to do MFT Sketch Challenge #77 last week but I liked the layout so I used it for this birthday card.
While the title of this post is Celebrate Today, I don't feel much like celebrating. We had to put one of our cats, 18 year old Blue, down yesterday. She was the sweetest little girl and her leaving us creates a big hole in our hearts.
My base card is Whisper White with layers of Old Olive, Ruby Red, and DP from the Rhubarb Tart 6 x 6 pack from Memory Box. The next element is Old Olive and more DP, as are the three vertical elements. The focal image was stamped on Whisper White with a stamp from PTI's Life set. I used my SU! markers in Old Olive and Ruby Red to color directly on the stamp, spritzed it with a little water, and stamped. I didn't get enough water on it but I was afraid to put more. I'll have to practice with this technique but I like what I have here well enough. After I cut/embossed it with a Petite Oval Nestabilities die I sponged it lightly with Going Gray and layered it on Ruby Red and Old Olive, both of which were cut/embossed in the same way. It was then popped up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment is from Mixed Messages by PTI, stamped on Whisper White with Basic Gray and sponged with Going Gray. It and the two mats were punched with my Small Oval punch and is also up on foam squares. A couple of ruby red Dew Drops finish off the upper right corner and it's done!
Thanks for dropping by today!
