Piped Violets

This card is for Sharon Johnson's No Time To Stamp Stamp Simply Challenge #84: Let's Pipe Up! Here are her instructions:

"Let’s Pipe Up! Piping is a sewing term and I can’t think of a comparable stamping term to explain what I mean. Since my sewing background goes much farther back than my stamping background, I often view, in my mind’s eye, my paper as fabric and my embellishments as other sewn features. In sewing, piping is a piece of covered cording used to visually separate (but actually join) two patterns or two pieces of fabric. Think of a darling little girls dress with piping separating the bodice from the gathered skirt, or a much heavier type of piping on upholstered furniture. What I’m looking for today is that narrow strip of paper to separate 2 other pieces of paper."

Okey dokey. I used to sew a lot so I knew exactly what she meant. My base card is Whisper White with layers of Old Olive, Lavender Lace (run through the Cuttlebug with the Textile embossing folder), and a partial layer of DP from the Poppyfinch 6 x 6 pack by Memory Box. That partial layer is "piped" with Old Olive. The focal image is from Flourishes' Sweet Violets set. This is the small violets image and is so sweet! I stamped it on Gina K. Pure Luxury 80lb paper with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Copic markers (see below). Next I cut/embossed it with a Oval Nestabilities die and did the same with the two mats. Then I popped it up on 3M foam squares, tied a sheer lavender ribbon around in a bow, and called it done!

Thanks for dropping by today! And don't forget--tomorrow is the next leg of MFT Idol contest. I made it to the Top Five so I hope you stop by on the MFT Forum and vote for me, Bar! Voting starts tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 28 at 10PM and runs through 10Pm Wednesday night, April 29.
