MFT Creative Construction With Blueprints–Frame It in February

We love Blueprints because they take the guesswork out of crafting beautiful cards in quick fashion when we’re short on time or inspiration. We also love them for their versatility and ability to be mixed and matched when we have the time and inspiration to create something truly unique. Our Creative Construction Challenge focuses on these attributes each month, challenging the team to both assemble a card based on one of the provided Blueprints sketches as well as design an original card combining elements from the featured Blueprints.

This month, we’re Framing It in February with Blueprints featuring framing elements of all shapes and sizes. The featured Blueprints this month are 2, 16, 17, & 19.

I love this challenge because it makes me look at some older sets that need some love every month. My first card follows one of the sketches that goes with this set. I started with a In the Buff card stock base, creating a background with Harlequin Stencil and Orange Fizz dye ink and Tropical Teal dye ink. After I stenciled I drew in lines with a black marker and splattered with clear water. Next I created my chalkboard using the easel and banner dies from Blueprints 17 Die-namics. The sentiment is from Birthday Chalkboard Greetings and was stamped on Black Licorice card stock with Sweet Tooth pigment ink and heat embossed with clear detail embossing powder. I added letters to the banner using LLD Little Lowercase Letters Die-namics and balloons cut with Balloon STAX Die-namics. The were cut from, left to right, Orange Fizz card stock stamped with Orange Fizz dye ink and Harlequin Background, In the Buff card stock stamped with Birthday Background and Black Licorice dye ink, and Tropical Teal card stock stamped with Tropical Teal dye ink and Houndstooth Background. I added hemp cord and popped them up on foam mounting tape.

The INSIDE has another sentiment from Birthday Chalkboard Greetings stamped with Tropical Teal dye ink.

My second card uses several elements from Blueprints 2 Die-namics and Blueprints 19 Die-namics.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then on another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock, I stenciled a background using Diagonal Stripes Stencil and Cherry Crisp dye ink, Berrylicious dye ink, Kraft dye ink, Pink Lemonade dye ink, and Steel Gray dye ink. From Kraft card stock that was stamped with Burlap Background and Natural dye ink, I cut the frame from Blueprints 19 Die-namics and created a scene. I’d been wanting to do a heart tree so this was the time. The background is Berrylicious card stock dry embossed with Staggered Hearts Stencil, I’m using the tree from Spooky Scene Die-namics, cut from Steel Gray card stock with little Pink Lemonade card stock and Cherry Crisp card stock hearts cut from BB Cool Day Die-namics, adhered with my Quickie Glue Pen. The sentiment is from lJD All My Love and was stamped on Sweet Tooth card stock cut from Blueprints 2 Die-namics (as well as the silver glitter layer) using Steel Gray dye ink. I thought the little flower petals looked like hearts so I embellished them with more and tied on the Kraft card stock die cut button with silver cord. Foam mounting tape was used to pop up layers.

On the INSIDE, I a heart and sentiment from LJD All My Love with Pink Lemonade dye ink and Steel Gray dye ink.

And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today—remember, it’s all about the art! See you soon!
