Wishing You a Beautiful Today–C4C #319

Hi, everyone, thanks for joining me for this week’s Crazy 4 Challenges! Frances is our hostess and since it’s the third week of the month, it’s sketch week.

I had to ponder on this one a bit—I tried to think out of the box about those three square corner elements and decided to use three colors to represent them. I started with a Stone Gray card stock base, then, on some Ranger Watercolor paper, I stamped Mini Hearts Background with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. Then I added my watercolors using Peerless Watercolors and cut the center out with Square Frames Die-namics. I cut four more copies of it from Sweet Tooth card stock, stacked them up, and inlaid them back into the opening, with the watercolored version on top.

I stamped a sentiment from LJD Together Forever with   Delicata Gold pigment ink on one of the center cut outs, heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder, added it back into the opening, and popped the whole thing up on foam mounting tape.  Using Mini Modern Blooms and Mini Modern Blooms Die-namics, I stamped up some flowers and leaves for the right upper corner element adn it was done. The colors I used are listed below.

Here you can get an idea of the dimension of the raised frame and how gorgeous that gold detail embossing powder is.

And that's it! Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you!

THEN, you know what to do--we'd love to have you come along and play with us. Just do your thing with the challenge and link it to Mr. Linky on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Please link directly to your project. And, if you upload to a public gallery, please use the key word C4C319.

Thanks for stopping by today—see you soon!

  1. Your card is beautiful ... I'm such a fan of your work! I just invested in the Peerless Watercolors but having trouble getting any vibrancy out of them. Was wondering if you could explain your technique ... I must be doing something wrong :( Thanks.

    1. Hi, and thank you so much for your kind words!!! I think you will get to the point where you love your Peerless so don't be discouraged. Perhaps you're not using enough color, i.e., diluting it too much? I tend to "overdo" at first--you can always remove a little if it's too much with more water and blot with a paper towel. Plus, you can go back with more coats until you get the look you're wanting. I am blogged ahead for a couple of weeks but I'll try to work in a video on how I use them soon. Thanks again!

  4. LOVE the way you used the Peerless watercolors to make your "blocks." Ingenious thinking and totally out of the box. Great card!
