For you - Crazy 4 Challenges #37

Happy Saturday! I've got a busy day planned--out to breakfast with friends and then home to do some gardening the rest of the day. First, though, I've got this week's Crazy 4 Challenges card for you. This week, Frances is challenging us to create a card or project with a pocket on it. You can use a stamp of a pocket, a pocket style construction, pocket themed designer paper, whatever your little ol' heart desires, as long as there's a pocket somewhere.


So OK, right away I thought of this adorable Lockhart Vintage Apron image. I just love it, don't you?! I stamped the image on a Cream Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and paper pieced it. I did add a little shading at the gathers with Copic marker WN1, otherwise there's no coloring. I'm using Midnight Madness Sketch #53 for my layout. I used 3/4" twill for the tabs and sewed them down with a zig-zag stitch and topped them off with buttons from MFT's Summer collection. Paper is Very Vanilla and Sage Shadow, and MFT Wild Cherry (this is the most gorgeous RED, peeps!). The sentiment is from MFT's Chick Flick. I love this layout, I love this stamp, I love this paper, and I love how this card came together.

Almost Blue Shadow? Color Throwdown #89

Pretty lame, huh? LOL, I couldn't think of a good title for this post!!

I know I say this all the time, but REALLY! Where does the time go!? It's Wednesday again already and time for another Color Throwdown Challenge! Today's colors were chosen by LeAnne. I'd know that just by the colors, LOL! She loves to use Bordering Blue ;-) NOT that I mind--I happen to like Bordering Blue, but ONE of my team mates is not fond of it (heehee).
I decided to make a window card this week.


I first used a PTI Stampers Select white card stock base and embossed the upper part with my Victorian embossing folder. Then I cut out a window with a Classic Square Nestabilities die, rounded the bottom corners, added some patterned paper from Basic Grey's Wisteria collection (which was LeAnne's inspiration for these colors), and a bow using PTI's Ocean Tides grosgrain ribbon. Then I stamped this sweet little Lockhart Violet Cupcake stamp on the inside with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it with Copic markers. Finally, I added some tiny topaz-y jewels to the center of the violets. Sorry it's such a poor photo. I took the pictures and didn't look at them until I was doing this post. And it was too late to take more: I'd taken the card to work to show my peeps there and they snatched it up to take to a patient. So, better pictures were sacrificed to a worthy cause :)

Spring is in the air - Crazy 4 Challenges #29

WOW!! Time is just speeding along and today is the first day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere! And I think I can speak for most folks and say Yippee!!! So, in honor of Spring's arrival, I'm challenging everyone to make a Spring themed card or project.

Nothing says Spring any more for me than flowers starting to bloom. I love this little violet cupcake Lockhart stamp so I decided to use it for my Spring card. I stamped it on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it with Copic markers. I'm using Taylored Expressions Sketch #105 for my layout. I used my new Scallop Detail border punch on the top element and at the bottom, and added some tiny green flat backed pearls to it. I'd been wanting to make a poofy flower from tissue paper, since I bought this gigantic package of different colors, so today is the day. I punched out 16 layers, bradded them together, and sort of smooshed up the layers. I really LOVE the look of the tissue paper layers!! They almost look like real flower petals! I added a small button to the center, and made some leaves by punching out ovals, folding them in half, and running them at a diagonal through my paper crimper. The sentiment is computer generated and popped up on Pop Dots.

Springtime birthday

I couldn't wait to break out this new Kioshi paper from Basic Grey. It's absolutely gorgeous!!! And, since Spring is really just around the corner (I have proof: daffodils and crocus are blooming and tulips are up) I thought I'd use one of my neglected Lockhart stamps and this pot of tulips is just the thing!

I stamped the image three times on MFT's Perfect Paper Panels with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored them all with Copic markers and cut out the pot and flowers for the second layer and just the flowers for the top layer. The two top layers are each popped up on Pop Dots. I'm using Taylor's fabulous TESC #104 for this week for my layout, which is another chance to use one of those big ol' buttons :) The sentiment is from PTI's Floral Fusion--the Summer CHA set.

I'm using a new-ish Karen Lockhart stamp called Pie In the Window, or something like that. I see it's not available right now at Ellen Hutson's store, so that's the closest I can get ;-) I'm glad I got it when I did, but the Cupcakes In the Window is just as cute--it was hard to decide which one to order! The image was stamped on Pure Luxury 80 lb paper with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, colored with Copic markers, and edge distressed with Ranger Tea Dye Distress Ink. Then I matted it with Regal Rose and Chocolate Chip and stitched around it. The base card is Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, and DP from the Porcelain 6 x 6 pad by Basic Grey and then also stitched. A pink ribbon, a green button, and some brown Perle cotton finished it off.

Stamp Simply #98--Lace

When most of you see this post I'll be getting ready to head over to the Convention Center to CHA! I'm so excited!!! My camera battery is charged and I have a spare!

Okey dokey, it's time for another Stamp Simply Challenge. This time Sharon has challenged us all to use lace on our cards. Here's what she says:

July 31 - ssnotime98 - Lovely Lace - I have always loved lace -- nothing is so pretty and delicate and it adds such a charming touch to a card. Today's challenge is to incorporate lace into your work. It can be real lace, punched lace, stamped lace, sticker lace -- anything at all - as long as we have lace to grace our creation! That's it - have fun!!!

I've used eyelet lace on this card--the kind you thread ribbon through. I've always loved that stuff. My image is a fairly new Karen Lockhart stamp called English Daisies and was stamped on Pure Luxury 80lb paper by Gina K. with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers. My patterned paper is the Abbey Road series by Bo Bunny and my card stock is the new In Color Bermuda Bay and PTI's New Leaf. I made my bow with my Bow Easy. I can tie pretty bows, but this thing makes it FAIL SAFE, LOL! Lots of layers and elements--which I love--and texture make this a card I'm happy with. The sentiment is from PTI's Mixed Messages set, stamped on Whisper White with Memento Rich Cocoa and cut/embossed with a Spellbinders tag die and tied on with a button and Perle cotton.

Birthday Peaches

I think this is the very first time I've done the Weekend Sketch Challenge. Just never has been enough time, but this sweet little sketch really got my attention and I made time to do it. This week's challenge was hosted by Laurie Schmidlin.

The focal image is a Karen Lockhart stamp called, well, Peaches, LOL. Peaches will be coming in here soon so I thought it was time to get this one out and dusted off. What a cute image this is--as are all Lockhart stamps. It was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Pure Luxury 80 lb paper by Gina K, and colored with Copic markers. Then cut/embossed with a classic oval Nestabilities die, matted, and popped up on 3M foam squares. My patterned paper is from the Nana's Kitchen mat stack by DCWV and my card stock is Wild Wasabi and Really Rust, along with a Whisper White base. The sentiment is from PTI's Mixed Messages set, stamped with Tuxedo Black on Whisper White, cut out with a Spellbinder's tag die, and tied on with Perle cotton. Some ribbon and some buttons and that's that!

Happy day! It's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge! Today's colors come to us courtesy of the fabulous Broni! Broni chose Kiwi Kiss, Tempting Turquoise, and Real Red. I love these colors!!!!!


This patterned paper from the Citrus mat pad by DCWV was perfect! And I had this Lockhart Apples in Chintz Bowl stamp that had never seen ink. A match made in heaven, LOL!

The focal image was stamped on Pure Luxury 80 lb paper by Gina K with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. It was cut/embossed with a Nestabilities circle die, matted, and popped up on 3M foam squares. A few buttons for balance, some stitching, and it was done! I'm liking it and I hope you do too!

Color Throwdown #49

It's another Color Throwdown day and Tammy is bringing us a blast from the past with the colors she chose! I totally love these retired In Colors: Groovy Guava and Soft Sky. And you can't go wrong adding Chocolate Chip, can you?

For my card I decided to use a new stamp--Vintage Apron, by Karen Lockhart. It begs to be paper pieced, so that's what I did. I'm using the also-retired Afternoon Tea DSP along with the challenge colors for card stock. And I did a little coloring with Copic markers. It's a homespun-ny (is that a word, LOL?) type of stamp so I carried that theme throughout with stitching, buttons, some Soft Sky double stitched ribbon, and distressing with Ranger Distress Ink in Antique Linen. I love how this turned out. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Mega Mixed Messages. All stamping was done on Gina K Pure Luxury 80 lb paper with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

Sketches! {by Tamara} #99

It's time for another Sketches! {by Tamara} challenge and here's the sketch:


This was a nice sketch to work with--I can see it being used over and over. My base card is Whisper White with layers of Kiwi Kiss, Caribbean Blue (by Creative Memories), Yoyo Yellow, and DP from the Citrus Mat Pack by DCWV. The focal image is by Karen Lockhart and was stamped on Gina K. Pure Luxury 80lb paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers (see below). It was cut/embossed with a Petite Oval Nestabilities die and matted with Yoyo Yellow, Caribbean Blue (CM), and Kiwi Kiss then popped up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment is from a hostess set called Sweet Little Sentiments and was stamped on Whisper White with Tuxedo Black in and punched out with the Word Window punch. Then it was layered on all three colors of cardstock which were cut/embossed with Spellbinders label dies. I added a button to each end and popped it up on foam squares. A turquoise striped ribbon was all it needed to finish it off, I think.

Strawberry Time--Sketches! by {Tamara} #97

Okey dokey, it's time for another Sketches! {by Tamara} card sketch challenge! This is #97 and here's the sketch:


And here's my card. I love strawberries. I love to eat them right out of the garden while they're still warm from the sun. Just blow the dirt off and enjoy :) Strawberry time is about over here and they haven't been as good as usual--probably due to all the rain we got this Spring. So, I decided to put some strawberries that look good enough to eat on this card.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Old Olive, Bashful Blue, and Summer Picnic DSP. The next element is Old Olive with it's border punched and Bashful Blue DSP from the hostess Prints Pack. The focal image is a Karen Lockhart image (I love her stamps!) stamped on Gina K. Pure Luxury 80lb paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers (see below). It was then cut/embossed with a Nestabilities die, matted with Bashful Blue and Old Olive done the same way, and popped up on 3M foam squares. A light blue gingham ribbon tied in a bow with a red button tied on with Perle cotton holds the sentiment on. It's from PTI's Mega Mixed Messages and was stamped on Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black and cut/embossed with a Spellbinders tag die. I think it's bright and cheerful and would make someone who's sick feel a little bit better. What do you think?

Birthday Violets

This card is for SCS Sketch Challenge #223. I love this sketch!!! Just right for a small image.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, and DP from the Sprout 6 x 6 pack from Memory Box. The next element is Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, and Pale Plum. It's hard to see in the picture, but I made vertical embossed lines with my Scor-Pal on the Pale Plum panel. The next element is Chocolate Chip, Pale Plum, and more DP. The focal image is a Karen Lockhart stamp called Violet Cupcake. It was stamped on Gina K. Pure Luxury 80 lb paper with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers (see below). I added some shimmer to the flowers with my Sakura glitter pen, cut/embossed it with a square Nestabilities die and layered it on Old Olive and Chocolate Chip before popping it up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment is from PTI's Mega Mixed Messages and was stamped on Whisper White with Memento Rich Cocoa (the layers should be pretty self explanatory) and is up on foam squares. Orchid Dew Drops for balance and it's done!

Urban Roses

Good morning!! It's been raining off and on here for several days and it looks like it's going to continue. I need to get out there and prune my roses, but I don't think that's going to happen this weekend. Since I can't prune the real ones, here's a rose cupcake to tide us over. This card is for two challenges: SCS Sketch Challenge #221 and SCS Color Challenge #211: Pretty In Pink, Kiwi Kiss, and Baja Breeze.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze on which I did some paper piercing. The next element is Kiwi Kiss with DP from the Urban Prairie 6 x 6 pad from Basic Grey. The next element is Kiwi Kiss with Pretty In Pink with more paper piercing and a pink satin bow was tied around at this point. The focal image uses a Karen Lockhart stamp which was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Gina K Pure Luxury 80 lb paper, colored with Copic markers (see below) and had a little paper piercing done in the corners. It was layered on all three of the challenge colors and is popped up on 3M foams squares. I think it's kinda sweet and definitely cheers up a gloomy day.

This card is for SCS Color Combinations #209. Basic Black, Always Artichoke, and Rose Red. LOVE these colors together!! LOVE 'em!!! I'm "loosely" using this week's SFYTT for my layout.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Basic Black and Always Artichoke, to which I added some paper piercing. The next element is Basic Black with a layer of Rose Red, also with paper piercing. The focal image uses a Karen Lockhart stamp called Tulips. It was stamped twice on Gina K. Pure Luxury 80 lb. paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers (see below for colors used). I then cut out one image and popped it up on the second with 3M foam squares. It was then matted with Rose Red, Always Artichoke, and Basic Black and is also up on foam squares. I finished it off with a black gingham ribbon tied around in a knot with two buttons tied on with black Perle cotton. The sentiment is from PTI's Mixed Messages (this is such a GREAT set of tiny sentiments--love it!) and was stamped on the same paper with the same ink. It was cut/embossed with a Spellbinders tag punch and tied on under the buttons. I'm really liking this card. Whatcha think?

Lilacs in Pitcher--Color Throwdown #32

It's time for the Color Throwdown Challenge--we're up to #32! Today's colors were chosen by Broni Holcombe and they were a challenge: Barely Banana, Pretty In Pink, and Regal Rose. I really had to give this one some thought, but I like what I finally came up with.



My base card is Whisper White with layer of Pretty In Pink and more Whisper White run through my Cuttlebug with the Textile embossing folder. The next element is Regal Rose and Barely Banana cut/embossed with my large and small Labels dies. A sheer pink ribbon and bow were added at this point. The focal image was stamped with a new Lockhart stamp, Lilacs in Pitcher on Solar White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers (see below for colors used). It was then cut/embossed with an oval Nestabilities die and matted on Pretty In Pink and Regal Rose, also cut/embossed with Nestabilities dies and popped up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment is from a My Favorite Things set called Essential Sentiments and was stamped on Solar White with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and punched with the small oval punch. It was matted with Pretty In Pink and Regal Rose and is also up on foam squares. Dew Drops from the Primary collection add a few accents and finish it off.
