Make a wish

Isn't this the sweetest little card? I found the directions for it on a blog called My Creations. The link to the template is there and all I did was print it off, cut it out, and dress (pun intended) it up! I'm using Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday challenge--to use vellum--although it's turned into Timeless Thursday, LOL. This is the first time I've ever used vellum on a card so it was a great challenge to me to get it out and play with it,

My base card is SU! retired Afternoon Tea DSP. I just thought it looked like a little girl's dress. I then cut the vellum "apron" and used my Martha Stewart eyelet punch along the bottom. The cummerbund was cut using the reverse side of the dress paper. I used my Martha Stewart ribbon threader punch on it and wove 1/4" white double faced satin ribbon through it and tied it in a bow. The collar was made by using my smallest Petite Circle Nestabilities die on Whisper White card stock, complete with embossing. I cut it in half, and trimmed it to fit the shoulders and neck opening with my craft knife after it was in place. I added small flat-backed pearls to the collar and larger ones to the apron, as well as a shirt button to the bodice. A small tag, cut/embossed with another Nestabilities die was stamped with a tiny sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Mixed Messages set in Chocolate Chip ink and tied on with Merlitt rayon floss--it has a pearly look. On the inside I added a layer of Whisper White and a border of DSP with the bottom punched with the eyelet punch.

Thanks for dropping by!

The butterfly

This card is for week 3 of Viva la Verve's February sketch challenges with a twist. The twist this week is to make a monochromatic card. It also qualifies for Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday challenge: to use flowers on a card. NOT a problem for me, LOL!

My base card is Very Vanilla with layers of Close To Cocoa and DP from a My Mind's Eye 12 x 12 pad. The next element is Close To Cocoa with a layer of Very Vanilla with Tres Chic stamped in Close To Cocoa ink. The next layer is more of the same, only the Very Vanilla layer is embossed with my Perfectly Paisley Cuttlebug embossing folder and is up on 3M foam squares. The focal image is a sentiment from Verve's Wonderful You set stamped on Very Vanilla with Close To Cocoa. It's cut/embossed with a rectangle Nestabilities die and is layered on Close To Cocoa cut/embossed with a scalloped rectangle die. It's also up on foam squares and I added a tiny Liquid Pearls "pearl" to the center of the little butterfly. Two Prima flowers and a punched butterfly with pearl accents finish off the sketch. Two larger pearls accent the upper right corner.

Thanks for dropping in!

Feeling Under the Weather?

I'm so stoked about this card! I'm so happy with how it turned out, and it works for four--count 'em, FOUR--challenges, LOL! First, it's for My Favorite Things Who's That Girl Challenge #21--use a Who's That Girl stamp and at least three patterned papers (I'm all about that, LOL!), next it's for the SCS Technique Lovers Challenge #207--cut it out, then SCS Ways to Use It #204--pile up the embellishments (right up my alley!), and last, but certainly not least, Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Challenge 2--use a button. Whew! What fun!!

My base card is Whisper White with three layers of DP from Basic Grey's Romani/Gypsy 6 x 6 pad (and I'm not even counting the two solid DP in my count). The focal image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Stamper's Select White from PTI using a stamp from MFT's Rain or Shine set. I paper pieced (raincoat and doggy's coat) and colored it with Copic markers (see below for colors used). The umbrella was stamped on Whisper White with Really Rust ink and then it was cut out and adhered with 3M foam squares. The sentiment is also from the set and was stamped on Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black, is layered on two solid colors of DP, and is also up on foam squares. Some Prima flowers and buttons with hemp thread add accents and complete the requirements for the other challenges. I really love this card--hope you do too!

Thanks for dropping by!

Birthday flourish

This card is for a friend's birthday and for Flourishes' new Timeless Tuesday challenge. The challenge is to have a *flourish* somewhere on the card.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Old Olive, Pretty In Pink and DP from Basic Grey's Romani/Gypsy 6 x 6 pack. Very colorful paper. I tied a 5/8" double stitched grosgrain ribbon around that before adding the focal image. The focal image was stamped on Stamper's Select white card stock from PTI with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used a stamp from Inkadinkado's Classic Botanicals cling set and it is colored with Copic markers (see below for colors I used) and sponged with Creamy Caramel ink. It was then matted on Pretty In Pink and Old Olive and adhered with 3M foam squares. The sentiment was stamped on the same card stock with the same ink and a stamp from PTI's Birthday Basics set, sponged with Creamy Caramel and punched out with the Word Window punch. It was then matted on Old Olive that was punched out with the small oval punch and adhered with foam squares. The flourish is from a little chipboard pack by K & Co. I colored it with my Old Olive marker, glued it on the focal image with Crystal Effects, and added a Fresh Cut Grass Dew Drop using a Quickie Glue Pen. I really love Dew Drops. They work as well as brads, and have the added bonus of being able to be used last--if you decide you needed the visual appeal of brads but your card is already put together. Love 'em!

Thanks for dropping by!
