Wishing You a Happy Birthday - Crazy 4 Challenges #78

It's Crazy 4 Challenges time! Today's challenge is brought to us by the fabulous Silke Ledlow and today she's challenging us to use a tree on our cards or project today in honor of International Earth Day.

I decided to go CAS with this card. I love the primitive look of this tree image from PTI's Through the Trees.

First I rounded the corners of my card base and stamped the sentiment, from the same set. Then I stamped the tree with Ripe Avocado and Dark Chocolate inks and matted it with Ripe Avocado and Hawaiian Shores card stock. Finally, I finished it off with some Hawaiin Shores 1/2" satin ribbon.

Flourishes Friday - A Cut Above Challenge

 
Are you ready for Flourishes' March pre-release challenge? It's a fun one and we hope you'll all join in!

Die cut, punched edges or decorative borders, all are the rage in card making, so let's see how you can create a card that's a cut above the rest! To enter, simply use a die cut, decorative punch or border punch as a focal point on your card. Keyword: FLLCMAR11 - deadline is March 18th at 5 PM Eastern.

I decided to pull out some dies that I haven't used in a long time for my card--they were feeling most unloved. I kept my design really simple, using paper from Prima's new Sweet Fairy collection, to make sure my focal point die cut and sentiment stayed front and center. With my brand new Grand Calibur machine (that was a very generous gift from Spellbinders) I used a die from the Ribbon Tag Trio Two set to cut it out, then, while the paper was still in the die, I sponged it with Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink. Finally, I stamped it with Memento Lilac Posies ink and a sentiment from Life Lines, one of my all time favorite sentiment sets.

To attach it to the card, I ran some of THIS ribbon through the slots and tied it in a bow. Let me just say that I LOVE this ribbon. Not only is it a gorgeous color (it shimmers!), but it ties like a dream! So silky! I'd love to have it in lots of colors! But, before I tied the sentiment on, I added a Spellbinders die cut border element for a little contrast. And lastly, I tied on a button to finish it off.

So Many Dreams - CTD #132 and MFTWSC #10

OK, I know I keep saying this, but time is flying! It's already Wednesday again, so that means it's Color Throwdown and MFTWSC Challenge day! Broni is our host this week and here are the lovely colors she chose for us to work with:

Aaaaaand, here's my card. Like last week, these colors said "baby" to me so I gave in and made a baby card :)

The sentiment is from Clearly Sentimental About Babies (temporarily out of stock) and was stamped on Sweet Tooth card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I did some stitching and some distressing and pretty much just followed the sketch. For the finishing touch, I added some butterflies cut with my Butterflies Die-namics dies.

MFT Creative Challenge - Home Decor

Hi, everyone! It's time for another MFT Creative Challenge! Today we've been challenged to use Die-namics dies for a home decor project. What perfect timing! I've had SPRING letters on my To Do list for several weeks and this was just the push I needed to get them done! Be sure to check out Kim's blog to see what other designers are participating today.

So, I covered my letters with some new Prima Sparkling Spring papers and set to decorating them. I used Die-namics on every letter except the "P", where I just stamped the tree from Grow Love and cut it out. The only other stamping I did was the medium flower stem from How Does Your Garden Grow.

Here's the whole set. I already have it proudly displayed on my corner china cabinet, but the lighting is not photo friendly so it was in my light box for this picture :)

Happy Easter - Crazy 4 Challenges #77

Alrighty, it's time for another Crazy 4 Challenges! This month our host is the fabulous Silke Ledlow and today she has a sketch for us.

OK, so you know I'm not going to do a square card, right? Not unless I absolutely can't help it, LOL! So, I made my an A2 size and flipped the diagonal pieces.

My little PI is one of MFT's latest, One Sweet Chick (temporarily out of stock). Isn't she adorable!!? I just had to paper piece her dress and the egg. Totally sweet!! I stamped her on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and, in addition to paper piecing, colored her with Copic markers. Then I cut her out with a Classic Circle Nestabilities die and added some grass made with the Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics die, before layering it on the awesome new Die-namics' Dizzy Doily - which is my new fave, BTW ;-) For the center element, I adhered some Baja Breeze ribbon and added some TRUE black baker's twine that MFT is carrying HERE, along with a button and the sentiment flag.
