Hi, everyone, and welcome to the first Color Throwdown Challenge of 2015!! Monika is our host this week and she has chosen a classic color combo based on this gorgeous Winter scene!
If you saw my New Product Launch post from last night, it will come as no surprise that I am totally smitten with the new Damask Background stamp from MFT. I decided to try emboss resist with this stamp and ink refills to watercolor for today’s card. I have a video, showing the process and card construction, that can be viewed HERE on my You Tube channel or by clicking the button below.
In addition, I’ll run through the steps quickly. Using Ranger water color paper (I love it because it is pure white) I stamped Damask Background with Versamark and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. Then, with a water brush, I applied Wild Cherry dye ink refill and Black Licorice dye ink refill several times until I got the coverage I was after. I trimmed it down and popped it up on Grout Gray card stock with foam mounting tape, then popped up Heart Puzzle Die-namics, cut from the new Cherry Crisp card stock with another heart piece cut from silver glitter paper and also popped up on foam mounting tape. The sentiment, from the just-released Smitten With You, was stamped on Black Licorice card stock with Versamark and also heat embossed with white embossing powder. These strips were popped up on foam and the card was finished off with silver sequins, adhered with my Quickie Glue Pen.
On the inside, layers were cut with Blueprints 1 Die-namics and Blueprints 6 Die-namics from Cherry Crisp card stock and Sweet Tooth card stock and another sentiment from Smitten With You was stamped with Cherry Crisp dye ink and Black Licorice dye ink.
And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD324 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented January Guest Designer, Bonnie Sharp, and this week’s Guest Star Stamper, Jenny Engelke!
