Mom of the Year–MFTWSC #122

MFTWSC122_2013may1

Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFTWSC122
OK, so I went all A2 with it ;-) My card base is Sweet Tooth card stock with a layer of Pink Lemonade card stock. then I scored the corners on another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock and adhered it. I stamped a strip of Sweet Tooth with LJD Spring Backgrounds with Pink Lemonade ink and added some tiny black gems for the centers. I added a Die-namics High Tea Party Doily, trimmed off, and then I got out my Die-namics Girly Graphic Tee Die & Stamp Set. I stamped the sentiment on the front of the t-shirt with Black Licorice ink and popped it up on foam. I added a flower made with LJD Embellished Eggs cut out with Die-namics LJD Easter Elements—not just for Easter ;-) The flower was stamped with Pink Lemonade ink and the center with Black Licorice ink. I just had to add a couple of Die-namics Royal Leaves, cut out of Sour Apple card stock.

Here’s the inside with a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental About Mothers.

Flourishes April Sneaks, Day One

sneakday1_2012apr11wtmk

Welcome to day one of Flourishes April sneaks! We’ve got some gorgeous things to show you this week—you will want them ALL, trust me!

Today we’re previewing two sets: Love and Lace (all about mothers) and the coordinating Antique Lace background, both by Lauren Pope. So dainty and delicate—simply beautiful.

Love and Lace Graphic

Antique Lace Graphic

I’m using both sets on my card today. First of all, I chose my papers and then made my own coordinating patterned paper for the bottom part of my card front using Classic Ivory card stock. LOVE this background image—it stamped perfectly and it’s gorgeous!!! Then I stamped my flowered frame and cut it out with a Standard Circle Nestabilities die and my Grand Calibur machine. Then I stamped the inner circle, with the mother and child, and cut it out the same way. I popped it up on the larger, flowered circle and added a rhinestone circle border. I also added some bling to my base card on top of a sponged doily, tied some seam binding around and added one of THESE stickpins from the Flourishes store.

Here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:

MFT April Creative Challenge–Mother’s Day

creativechallenge_2012apr10

Hi, everyone, it’s time again for the MFT Creative Challenge! This month the design team was challenged to make a Mother’s Day card or project. Nothing says Mother’s Day like MFT’s Clearly Sentimental About Mothers, so that’s what I used for today’s card.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you over on the MFT Blog.

This card reminds me of my mother: flowers, the stitching, pretty ribbon, and the music—she loved all of them. After I put my card base together, I added a
Die-namics Dizzy Doily layer which has a circle of patterned paper made with my Die-namics Circle STAX. You can’t see it too well in the picture, but it’s peeking out :) I adhered my bling on top of that, then I added a Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX element with some music patterned paper. Then I added a seam binding bow with a twine-tied button and the sentiment, stamped on a Die-namics Layered Label die cut. Finally, I added a Die-namics Royal Rose and some Die-namics Royal Leaves to finish it off.

Here’s a close up of the rose. I love this rose die! And the leaves—perfection, I tell ya!

Here’s a close-up of the sentiment—I sponged the edges to add a vintage feel.

Flourishes April Pre-Release Challenge–The Motherly Love Challenge

motherslovechallengewtmk_2012_apr6

Welcome to Flourishes April Pre-Release Challenge! This
month’s challenge is to make a Mother’s Day card. Won’t be long before we need them, so no time like the present to get started! You can get all the details about this challenge at the Flourishes Blog!

Motherly Love Graphic

I lost my mother several years ago, but every Mother’s Day I remember that when I was growing up, she always got an orchid corsage to wear to church. So I decided to do this card with the gorgeous

Orchids set. I had never inked up this particular image so it was about time :)

I stamped it on
Classic White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with these Copic collections:

Evergreen Collection:

Robin’s Egg Collection:

Then I cut it out with a Classic Oval Nestabilities die, matted it with a Labels Eighteen Nestabilities die and popped it up on the embossed and quartered base. The sentiment, from the Siberian Iris set, was stamped on a Standard Circle Nestabilities die cut and popped up on foam as well.

And that’s it! Now, be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you today...

Flourishes March Release Sneaks, Day One

sneakday1_2012mar14wtmk

It’s that time of the month! Time for
Flourishes’ March release and, boy have we got some lovelies for you this month.

Mother's Words of Wisdom Graphic

Today we’re showing you Mother’s Words Of Wisdom, a set with a GORGEOUS wreath of peonies and some very special sentiments.

Today’s the day we introduce this month’s 1, 2, 3 Create Kit, too, and I’m one of the lucky ones who get to show it to you :)

123 Create Kit Pretty In Pink With Banner

I love this new set—that wreath is a color-er’s dream! But I can also see it being done much more simply, too. Something for everyone! BUT I did color mine. I stamped it on Classic White (Tip: I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I can’t color on Ivory card stock. LOVE it for bases and other things, so when I want an “Ivory” look, I simply color on white and sponge with Antique Linen Distress Ink—works like a charm) card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored it with these Copic Collections.

Lenten Rose Collection:

Evergreen Collection:

Then I designed my card, using this month’s 1, 2, 3 Create Kit contents: paper, ribbon, and the Candi embellishments. I also did a little stitching and then popped the wreath up on foam dots after I stamped the sentiment in the center.

Now, be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has for you today...
