Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #71

It's time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC71)! This week Cindy Haffner is our challenge host and she is challenging us to embossing. There are a lot of different types of embossing options to choose from, such as heat, stencil, plates, folders, scoring, textured die cuts, and more. In addition, there are many different techniques to combined with embossing. You can also use anything from vellum, clear card stock, or other textures for your embossed projects. We would love to see what you all create.

Fun stuff, embossing! I love it! So, I was literally looking around for some inspiration when I saw what the SCS inspiration challenge for this week is: Roses and Teacups. I chose these gorgeous porcelain cameos for my inspiration and SCS Sketch #284 for my layout and I was on my way!

First, I made my "frame". I embossed Flourishes' Damask Background on a piece of patterned paper from K & C0., Madeline 6 x 6 pad. First I stamped it with Encore gold ink then heat embossed with gold detail embossing powder, and cut/embossed with a Scalloped Classic Oval Nestabilities die. The focal image, from A Year In Flowers, Set 2, was stamped on Classic White card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic markers. A pink moire bow and some gold flat back pearls finish it off. My base card is Soft Suede and each patterned paper element is matted with gold metallic card stock.

Thanks for dropping by today! I hope you'll play along--can't wait to see your embossed creations! Be sure to check out the rest of the FTTC team for inspiration!

Thank you cherry much!

I'm bringing out an MFT set I haven't gotten inky in a while, but I love! It's called Feelin' Fruity? This card is for SCS inspiration challenge #223 and I'm using this fabric for my inspiration. It's also for SCS CAS challenge #57--to use two shapes. I'm using a circle and an oval.

This card is very simple so I won't bore you with too many details, but I stamped the cherries on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Thank you ALL for coming to read our challenges, check out our projects and play along with us over the last 100 weeks -- we've loved every minute of it!!! So, it only follows that today's challenge is to make a birthday card -- that's it -- how simple and how fun!!!

We have a wide variety of things going on. Read the links below to find out what is happening at each blog, then I hope you can find some time to sit down with a nice cup of coffee or tea and start cruising to see what you can find -- have fun everyone -- and THANKS for coming!!!

So, I've got a birthday card for you and some blog candy to give away to one lucky person, so be sure to comment on this post to get a chance to win!

Here's my birthday card. I knew I wanted to make an elegant card for this special occasion, and as soon as I saw this vase at last Saturday's Inspiration Challenge at SCS I knew I wanted to use it as my inspiration piece. The stars all aligned and I had my card idea, LOL! Of course, I also immediately thought of these Flourishes' sets to use on this card--more well-aligned stars ;-) I'm using three Flourishes' sets: Vintage Wallpaper for the background, Thinking Of You for the focal image, and Sweet Violets for the sentiment. And I'm using Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #34 for my layout.

My card base is Very Vanilla with a layer of Tempting Turquoise. For the next element, I stamped the background image on Tempting Turquoise with Very Vanilla Craft ink and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, then layered it with Tempting Turquoise and Very Vanilla. The ribbon is from My Favorite Things' Royalty Ribbon Bundle and the bow was tied with my Bow Easy. The focal image and sentiment were stamped with Tempting Turquoise Craft ink, heat embossed with clear detail embossing powder, matted with Tempting Turquoise and Very Vanilla, and popped up on 3M foam squares. Some flat backed pearls were the only other thing this card needed, I'm thinkin'.

Now here's what you've been waiting for ;-)
You may have heard about the free stamp set you could get at the PTI booth at CHA for a minimum purchase. Well, I was *lucky* enough to get TWO sets, LOL! So, I'm sharing one with some lucky winner. I'm also giving away a pack of PTI Raspberry Fizz card stock and a tote bag that was also only available at CHA. I managed to snag *three* of them so I'm sharing one of them, too. It was used that day to carry my loot, so it's a little wrinkled, but it's so cute! To be eligible, leave a comment on this post by 11:59pm EDT Sunday, August 16. I'll pick the winner using Random.org and announce the winner Monday, August 17 here on my blog. Be sure to check back to see if you're the winner. If you are, you'll need to contact me within 48 hours via my email (left column, under my picture). If I don't hear from you within 48 hours, I'll pick another random winner.

Now we'd like for you to play along with the challenge. If you do, be sure to leave a comment on Sharon's blog telling her where you uploaded. Please use the keyword ssnotime100 if you upload to a public forum. Check out the great designs from the Stamp Simply team and our guests for this celebration. They all have a little something special for you so you won't want to miss any of them! Have fun!

Hang in there!

This card is for SCS Inspiration Challenge #168. Inspiration was to come from some item at Flutter. I chose this chandelier. As soon as I saw it I thought of the Crafty Secrets' Chandelier Fun stamp that I got several weeks ago in error. When I emailed Crafty Secrets, I was told to keep it for my trouble and they sent the right stamp set immediately. So, I thought I'd put that stamp to good use for this challenge. It's also for Our Creative Corner Challenge this week--to use a tag on a card. Got it covered!

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Basic Black, Apricot Appeal, and DP from Basic Grey's Scarlett's Letter 6 x 6 pad. This paper has a little bit of apricot, which gave me an opportunity to use Apricot Appeal, which is a color I rarely use.

The focal image was stamped on Whisper White with Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I colored the "flames" with an Apricot Appeal Stampin' Up! marker, layered it on Apricot Appeal and Basic Black, popped it up on 3M foam squares, and called it done! The sentiment is from the chandelier set and was stamped on a small piece of DP with Basic Black, cut/embossed with a Nestabilities tag die, and matted with a larger tag in Basic Black. A couple of flat-back black shiny "pearls" in the right lower corner finish it off. A sheer black ribbon tied around in a bow under the focal image was the only thing else it needed, I think. Pretty simple but elegant, don't you think?

Thanks for dropping in!

Buttons and Bows and WHAT???

This card is for SCS Inspiration Challenge #167. Inspiration was to come from this site: The Artful Bras Project. I chose the bra called Buttons and Bows and Boobs. All of the bras were very creative, to say the least! It's also for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I think this is the first time I've done one of these. Different for me, but that's a good thing. It was fun and I really like this card.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Old Olive and Pretty In Pink card stock. The next elements are first Old Olive, then DP from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie 6 x 6 pad, both layers of which were cut/embossed with circle Nestabilities dies. The focal image was stamped on Solar White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers (see below for colors used). It was matted on Pretty In Pink then Old Olive, and is up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment was stamped on Solar White card stock with Pretty In Pink from the same set and punched out with my Word Window punch. It's matted with Old Olive that was cut/embossed with a Nestabilities label die. I sewed on a pink button and mounted it up on foam squares. Two more buttons accent the top right corner. I really am liking this card.

Thanks for dropping by!

Cherry Inspiration

This card is for SCS Inspiration Challenge #166--finding inspiration at hunkydoryhome. My choice was a cushion found here. It immediately reminded me of some Summer Picnic DSP I had in my stash, the Tart and Tangy stamp set, and Karen Lockhart's Cherries stamp. The stars were aligned in the heavens, LOL! I'm using TECC54 sketch for my layout.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Old Olive, Real Red, Bashful Blue, and Summer Picnic DSP with a piece of red and white polka dotted ribbon wrapped around for the first element. The focal image was stamped on Solar White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers (see below for colors used). It was then cut/embossed with a Labels One die and sponged lightly with Bashful Blue while still in the die. It was then matted with Real Red cut/embossed with a square die, and Old Olive, also done with a Labels One die, and is up on 3M foam squares. The accent element was stamped with the cherries from Tart and Tangy in Real Red and Old Olive . It's attached to the base (self-explanatory, I think) with bits of foam squares. This is the first time I've used this paper. Thanks to the IC for inspiring me to get it out and cut it up!

Thanks for dopping by!

Fresh Cuts Inspiration

This card is for two challenges: the first Viva la Verve sketch with a twist for February and SCS Inspiration Challenge 165. The "twist" was to have any kind of embossing on the project. Easy, peasy. This is the first time for me for the Inspiration Challenge and I must say it was fun! Inspiration was to come from Elum Designs website. Elum specializes in designer paper products and specialty printing. Here's what I chose to be inspired by. Of course, it's Fresh Cuts!!!

My base card is Whisper White with a layer of Tangerine Tango. The next layer is Whisper White that was run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder and then had it's corners rounded. The next element is a strip of Tangerine Tango. The focal image is stamped with the Fresh Cuts main image with Tangerine Tango on Whisper White and cut out with an oval Nestabilities die. It has a Whisper White layer and then a scalloped Tangerine Tango layer and is popped up on 3M foam squares. Some Bird of Paradise Dew Drops finish it off. This was simple and fun and got me doing something different.

Thanks for dropping in!
