Wish BIG–MFT Sponsors SFYTT

SFYTTjuly2012_2012jul7

This month, MFT is sponsoring the Sketch For You To Try challenge and the MFT team has been invited to join in. What a fun sketch with so many possibilities. I decided to go sort of simple with my design and I love how it turned out.

Here’s the sketch:

I think it’s pretty obvious what I did ;-) Some patterned paper, a gorgeous Die-namics Plentiful Petals flower and some Die-namics Royal Leaves, along with a sentiment from Big Greetings.

Here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set:

Here are the Die-namics dies I used on this card:

Make Each Day a Masterpiece

It's raining here today--did most of yesterday, too. Good for the garden, but not so good for *working* in the garden. So, what do you do when you *have to* stay inside? Stamp, right? Only this card has no stamping on it. It's for the Stampin' B's Challenge #6--to use rub-ons. Since I have no rub-ons except some tiny little sentiments I decided to use a sticker instead and make it the focus of the card. I kinda like it--I'd like to know what you think.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Chocolate Chip and DSP from the Good Morning Sunshine collection by SU! I'm using Jen del Muro's SFYTT from yesterday, so next up was a piece of Kiwi Kiss striped ribbon. The focal image is a sticker from Heidi Grace and is on Whisper White, matted with Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip, all cut/embossed with Nestabilities dies. The sticker layer and the Kiwi Kiss layer are up on 3M foam squares and then the whole thing is up on more. There was a little white space (can't have that, now, can we?) so I added some Fresh Cut Grass Dew Drops. Following the sketch, I added brown and green buttons to each side of the focal image. Easy and pretty cute, don't you think?

Thanks for dropping by today!

Celebrate!

A co-worker asked me to make a card for her grandson, whose birthday is on St. Patrick's Day, and she wanted a St. Patrick's Day theme. So, I used Jen del Muro's SFYTT this week for the layout.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of Kiwi Kiss, More Mustard, and two DP from Karen Foster. The stripe is called St. Patrick's Stripes and the houndstooth is called Green Houndstooth. The focal image was stamped with a stamp from SU!'s Just Celebrate set on Gina K. Pure Luxury 80 lb. card stock with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and colored with Copic markers (see picture below for the colors I used). It was then layered on More Mustard and Kiwi Kiss. Kiwi Kiss striped ribbon, a shamrock from Michaels and a button from my stash, and Dew Drops from the Fresh Cut Grass collection finish it off.

Thanks for dropping by!

Feel better soon!

This card is for My Favorite Things' Who's That Girl Challenge 22. The challenge was to use the Can You Dig It? set and add some ribbon and three flowers. I don't have that set so I used Bunny Slippers instead. I figured if you're sick you can use some flowers to cheer you up! This card is using Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try for this week, too, although I had to flip it to accommodate this image.

My base card is Whisper White with layers of DP from Basic Grey's Two Scoops 6 x 6 pad with some retired Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon as the first element. The next element is more DP with ribbon tabs that follow the sketch and is popped up on 3M foam squares. The focal image was stamped on Solar White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and is, for the most part, paper pieced. What wasn't paper pieced was colored with Copic markers (see below for the colors I used) and is up on foam squares. The sentiment was stamped directly on the base card with brad and paper piercing accents. Three Primas were attached with another brad and another foam square.

Thanks for dropping by!

Let's Get Negative!

That's the theme of No time To Stamp's Stamp Simply challenge this week--#73, to use a negative image on a project. This card is for that challenge and Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try. I couldn't decide whether to use this card for an anniversary or sympathy card (am I the only one that finds that humorous?) so I left a sentiment off. I just found out I need to use the only sympathy card in my stash so I guess that answers that.

My base card is Very Vanilla with layers of Basic Black, Bordering Blue, and DP from the ATD pad Story Of Us. The next two elements are more of the same, just different DP. The focal image was stamped on Very Vanilla with Basic Black ink and a stamp from Inkadinkado's Birds Galore set. I glued a small blue jewel to the bird's eye and it's up on 3M foam squares. Three sets of Prima flowers with flat-backed pearls for the centers finish the sketch and are the finishing touch. I really like this card.

Thanks for dropping in!

Color Throwdown #25

This card is for the Color Throwdown Challenge #25. This week's colors were chosen by Tammy Hershberger: Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie, Baja Breeze, and Riding Hood Red. I used Jen del Muro's SFYTT for this past Saturday for my layout. For this card I decided to use a MFT set that I've had a while but from which I've only used a couple of stamps: Punny Farm.

My base card is Whisper White, with a layer of Certainly Celery, then a layer of Pumpkin Pie, then a layer of two designs of Basic Grey's Offbeat DP--this paper was PERFECT for this color combination. The focal image was stamped on watercolor paper and colored with markers and reinkers and my blender pen. I paper pieced That Girl's outfit with DP, matted it with Baja Breeze and Riding Hood Red, and popped it up on 3M foam squares. Some twill tape and antique copper brads follow the sketch on the left side of the focal image. The chicken was also watercolored, cut out with Nestabilities dies, matted on Riding Hood Red and is up on 3M foam squares. The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White, cut out with a Nestabilities label die, and is also popped up on foam squares. This was a really fun card to do! Good colors, a good sketch, and a good stamp set--a winning combination!

C'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD25 so we can see your beauty all in one place.

Love is...

Gosh, I love this sentiment and this card! Sorry, I got carried away with myself ;-)

OK, this card is a quadruple-header!! It's for: Valentine's Day, Our Creative Corner Challenge (use something clear, which will become clear shortly), the current Sketch For You To Try, and the Holiday Challenge Extravaganza #11--to use paper tole on a card.

My card base is Basic Black, with a layer of silver metallic card stock and then a layer of Real Red DSP from a 6 x 6 hostess gift pad. The focal image is the clear challenge part. The sentiment is a clear sticker by Cloud 9 Designs from a set called, appropriately enough, "Love". It was adhered to Whisper White card stock and matted with Real Red, silver, and Basic Black. Some small black faceted jewels accent the upper right corner and it's popped up on 3M foam squares. Two strips of black grosgrain ribbon with white stitching follow the sketch design. The accent heart, from the Always set (I really love this heart!) was stamped twice--once on Whisper White with Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder and cut out around the center heart. Next, it was stamped on Real Red with Basic Black and cut out around the outer dotted heart. The silver layer was popped up on 3M foam squares for the paper tole part, and the whole thing was attached on 3M foam squares, as well. Some larger black faceted jewels accent the lower right corner for balance. The Valentine's Day part should be obvious ;-)

Thanks for dropping by!

Happy, Happy Birthday, Baby

This card is for the i{heart}2stamp Sketch For You To Try challenge this week. I really like this layout--it's another one I'll use again, I think. It's also for the SCS color challenge 194: Really Rust, Going Gray, and Very Vanilla. I think it's going to be for my DH's birthday, which is just before Christmas.

I started with a Very Vanilla card base, added a layer of Going Gray, and then a layer from Basic Grey's Ambrosia 6 x 6 pad. Perfect for this color combination! The next element is Really Rust with another pattern from that DP collection and then I tied a gray satin bow around the whole thing. The focal image was stamped twice--once on Very Vanilla, then the bottom part was stamped on more of the striped DP and cut out and paper pieced. The top was stamped on water color paper and colored with my Really Rust sU! marker. I replaced the flowers on the stamped image with Primas and brads and attached it with dimensionals. Thanks for taking a look!
