CTD #129 and MFTWSC #7

Happy Wednesday! It's time again for the Color Throwdown Challenge and My Favorite Things' Wednesday Sketch Challenge. Our Color Throwdown host for this week is Cathy Rulli and here are the colors she chose:
And here's the MFT sketch. I really love this sketch, too. I *know* this will become a go to sketch for me.
You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter.  The Challenge and Design Teams will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.
And here's my card :) I'll admit that when I first saw these colors I was stumped. Two greens? And Ballet Blue? But, then I started looking through my patterned paper - which is what I do when I'm stumped. I came across this K & Co mat stack that I picked up recently at Michaels just because it had this gorgeous hydrangea paper (along with some other really pretty florals) and half my work was done. This paper and this sketch pretty much made the card for me, KWIM? I stamped the sentiment from Inspired by Butterflies on Sweet Tooth card stock and trimmed it to match the sketch. Then I made me some Ballet Blue flowers with the Flower and Leaf Trio Die-namics dies and layered them up. Finally, I added the tiny butterfly from the Butterfly Die-namics set and some pearls and it was done! And I love it :) Beautiful paper, a fabulous sketch, and awesome stamps and dies--what's not to love, right?

Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD129 so we can see your beauty all in one place. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week!

And now, my card. I gotta say I {heart} this card, too. See, I have this gorgeous piano sitting in my living room that I got for Christmas when I was in the first grade. I took piano lessons and my dear mother wanted me to learn how to play so badly. Alas, though, I had no talent for it so she let me quit after 6 years ;-) So, WTG playing the piano is for my mother :)

I stamped the image on a Perfect Paper Panel (have I mentioned how much I love these? I LOVE them!!!) and what I didn't paper piece I colored with Copic markers. I went vintage with it since my piano would be considered vintage now, LOL!! The music paper is from MFT's digi paper pack Take Note and I used the Faux Crochet Border Die-namics die for a border on top of the lace. Some hand-dyed and crinkled seam binding, a button, and some twine finish it off. My base card is MFT's Fossil card stock and the sentiment is from the Musical Girl Mini Stamp set that is ONLY available in the VIP Package--it will never be offered for sale after tomorrow night at 11:59pm. So get it while the gettin's good!

Here's the inside of my card. These musical notes are from Who's That Musical Girl and the sentiment is also from the Musical Girl Mini set.

And here are the copics I used.

Sooooo, thanks SO much for dropping by! Now you need to head on over to the amazing Melody's blog and see what she has for you. I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you did. Just sayin' ;-)

MFT Teaser - à la modes in All Star

Hi, everyone, I'm back for day two of MFT's February à la modes teasers. Both à la modes and the March VIP package will be available for purchase tonight at 10pm. You can head on over to the MFT blog to see who else has a preview of this set, and remember the VIP hop and shop starts tonight at 10pm, also at the MFT blog.

I colored this image with Copic markers then cut it out with a Curved Rectangle Nestabilities die and matted it a couple of times. I used a pretty simple layout to frame it with some October Afternoon Report Card paper and MFT's Whip Cream card stock. I used the Jumbo Open Scallop Die-namics die on the side border and finished it off with some striped ribbon and some Dew Drops. This girl is SO cute!!! Can't you just see her cheering for the home team?

And here are the Copic colors I used. Yeah, I do use a lot of 'em ;-)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope to see you back here tonight for the VIP Hop and Shop!

MFT Teaser - à la modes in Wishing You Luck

It's time again for MFT à la modes! Yay! I just love these girls, don't you? Today we're showing you à la modes in Wishing You Luck! We'll have another set for you tomorrow and both are super, super cute! They will be released tomorrow night at 10:00pm EST along with the March VIP package! Be sure to head on over to Kim's blog to see what designers are giving you a preview today. But first, a few things about these stamps.
  • à la modes will be available only in rubber
  • Each set is produced in the USA using the highest quality rubber, with the deepest etch possible.
  • Each image and sentiment is backed on cling foam and scroll cut, making it ready for stamping right out of the bag!
  • Packaged in a clear hang bag, we've also provided the ideal storage solution by including a thick laminated header card in each set that can be used to store the stamp set, in its entirety, after purchase.
  • $10.95 for the 3 x 4" set.
Now, on to my card :)

This set doesn't *have* to be limited to a St. Patrick's Day, of course, but that's pretty much the direction in which I went with it :) She's colored with Copic markers, cut out with an oval Nestabilities die, and I couldn't resist that big ol' gingham bow with a four leaf clover charm. And, of course, I used my favorite Little Scallop Strip Die-namics die for the green border. Other MFT products I used are Sweet Tooth and Gumdrop Green card stock.

And here are the Copics I used.
