Road Trip!

How about another My Favorite Things' sneak? I couldn't resist--this set is just so cute!!! As soon as I saw this set I thought it *had* to be done with a map somewhere on the card. So, I was browsing around Michaels and saw this paper pad called Spring Break. I love the colors and one pattern was of an old map. Bingo!

I stamped the image on a Perfect Paper Panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic markers. Then I cut it out and popped it up on foam squares on top of a piece of road map scrap book paper. The Road Trip sign was cut from another piece of the patterned paper. I just love how this card turned out!

Here's the inside. I stamped the suitcase image on patterned paper, gave it some shading with a Copic marker, and cut it out. All sentiments (plus several more) are included in the set.

Clearly Sentimental About You - My Favorite Things' Teaser Day Two

When I first saw this new Clearly Sentimental About You set from My Favorite Things, my thoughts immediately went to CAS because I wanted to showcase the sentiment and not hide it among a lot of layers. And you know I love me some layers. But, I am gaining appreciation for CAS in a big way, in case you hadn't noticed ;-) Since I needed something else to go along *with* the sentiment, I started looking through my stamp sets for something appropriate. This big ol' scrolly heart from Boho Blossoms seemed to be just the ticket! This would make a wonderful anniversary card, don't you think?!

I stamped the sentiment on a Kraft card base with Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I stamped the heart image on bright pink card stock with black pigment ink and heat embossed with black detail embossing powder. After I cut it out, I popped it up on foam squares on a strip of black card stock with a punched border and some bright pink ribbon. A row of black buttons tied on with twine finished it off!

I Want Candy - My Favorite Things Teaser Day One!

Here we are at day one of My Favorite Things' March release teasers. Today some of the design team are showing you different ways to use a new set called I Want Candy. This set was available as the December kit but will now be sold separately starting at 10 pm on March 3. I decided to do a CAS card with this set, so I stamped several of the images in a "pile" on the front of a card made from some new card stock MFT is carrying--One Sheet Wonder. It's base weight and coloring with Copic markers is a DREAM on it! I used the masking technique to stamp my images, then I colored them with Copics. Then I stamped a sentiment from the set and tied on a fun black and white gingham ribbon from the Perfect Plaid Ribbons collection.

To give the candy some dimension, I coated it all (except the sticks) with Crystal Effects. Love that shine!



I stamped some candy along the bottom edge of the inside of the card, too, also colored with Copics. A sentiment finished it off!

Birthday Wishes - Crazy 4 Challenges #26

It's time for another Crazy 4 Challenges challenge! Today Robin is challenging us to use texture.

~Week 26 – Feb 27th~It’s all about Texture~ Create a card/project using at least 3 different textures. You can use three different embossing folders or you can mix things up and use various types of textures (ie, dry embossing, wet embossing, textured papers, etc). There just needs to be 3 distinctly different textures on your creation.

For my card, I started by stamping this (I think) Stampendous image on a Perfect Paper Panel with Basic Black Craft ink and heat embossing with black detail embossing powder. Then I colored it with Copic markers and sponged the edges with Ranger Distress ink in Old Photograph. That's texture number one. Next I put the base together, using paper from Basic Grey's Archaic 6 x 6 pad and ran more patterned paper from the collection for the next element though my Cuttlebug with my Herringbone embossing folder. That's texture number two. More texture was added with the twill "ribbon" that I sponged with Old Photograph Distress ink and tied on with black hemp. Finally, I stamped the sentiment on a punched out tab and added some copper baby brads for more texture. This card was totally FUN to make and I love it! A bonus is that I now have a masculine birthday card in my stash!

More Heartfelt Sympathy - Stamp Simply #128

Today's Stamp Simply challenge is to make a sympathy card. We never want to make these but unfortunately we will need them. Sadly, I no sooner got this one made than I needed it. I'd hoped to just add it to my stash, so now I need to make another one for that. Here's the challenge in Sharon's words:

Feb 26 - ssnotime128 - With Sympathy - Today's challenge is to make a sympathy card. I seem to always be out of them, even though I make them often. And when we need sympathy cards, it is usually without much notice. So let's add to our stash of sympathy cards today. I know everyone is always looking for ideas for these cards that are not always the easiest to make -- so let's help each other out and let our ideas flow!

Despite the theme, I love how this card turned out, and I hope it brought at least a little comfort to the recipient. Clean and simple, and definitely stamped simply, I started with a Kraft base, stamped the sentiment, from PTI's Through the Trees set in Dark Chocolate at the bottom. Then I tied a Spring Moss grosgrain ribbon around in a bow. I stamped the tree image (from the same set) onto Vintage Cream card stock with Dark Chocolate and Spring Moss inks, trimmed it, cut it into quarters, and popped them up on 3M foam squares. REALLY an easy card.

Flourishes' Birthday Blog Hop Celebration!

Welcome to my stop (and the end for today) of Flourishes' Birthday Blog Hop Celebration. If you got here from Leslie's blog, you're right on track. If not, you might want to head on over to the Flourishes' blog and see what this is all about and start the hop from there. If you don't, I promise you'll be missing a whole lot of goodness.

The birthday we're celebrating is Jan Marie's, the owner of Flourishes. Not only are we celebrating with a party and blog hop, but there's a brand new stamp set, called Let Them Eat Cake, in honor of her day and it's available now in the Flourishes' store right here! The blog hop theme is Stamping Through the Decades and it's been so much fun! I'm doing the 70's with my card.

From the hippie movement and all that entailed, to the beginning of disco, it was a wild and crazy time. And that's where I got my inspiration: the hippy era and disco. I LOVE Hair and Saturday Night Fever, LOL--both quite boldly colorful and glitzy productions!! I chose to use this Glitterati paper from Memory Box for my base. It's hard to tell, but I used two patterns, separated by my bling element. On the right side, that gridded paper reminds me of the ubiquitous disco mirror balls, as does the bling, and the wild pattern on the left is so psychedelic, so I think I have both ends of the decade covered--what do you think, did I do it?

The images in this set are just gorgeous!! I stamped the cake plate on black card stock with silver pigment ink and heat embossed with fine detail silver embossing powder, then I cut it out. The cake layer and the candle were stamped on Classic White card stock and embossed in the same way and cut out as well. I added a little color to the candle "flame" with a Copic marker. Then I popped them up on the card base with Pop Dots after tying a black and silver ribbon around in a bow. The sentiment was done the same way as the cake stand, punched out, and popped up.

Another CAS card for me today.

First, I stamped the sentiment from Say It With Style on the Dark Chocolate base with Fresh Snow ink and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. Then I stamped the leaf image from Blooming Button Bits on Stampers Choice white card stock with Old Olive and cut it out with a Labels Four Nestabilities die. Next I added the buttons and attached the strip of patterned paper from Basic Grey's Porcelain 6 x 6 pad. A poofy flower from more DP and a single leaf from the stamp set finished it off!

From the Garden - FTTC #55

It's time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC55)! It's the last Tuesday of the month so we have a guest challenge host! This month's guest is Iwona Palamountain (Chupa). Iwona lives in Australia! She is challenging us to use flowers! Whether they are printed flower designer papers, stamped, punch created, or store bought, put some flowers on your card this week! We would love to see what you create!

BTW, Flourishes is unveiling a new store front! It just went live yesterday, so there may still be a few kinks to work out, but hop on over and look at it--it's gorgeous!!!

For today's card, I'm using one of Flourishes' newest sets, From the Garden. I love to dig in the dirt, so this set just speaks to me--I love it! I stamped my geranium image and the pot image on Flourishes Classic White card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored them with Copic markers. After they were done, I masked the pot and stamped those adorable little sprigs of grass on either side. They add so much--giving definition without having to add another layer. Love 'em! Then I cut the image out with a Labels Five Nestabilities die and layered it on a Classic Oval. Some pretty paper, some paper piercing, and a moire' ribbon bow finishes it off.

Christy Beckwith is the anchor illustrator for My Favorite Things (she's the creator of WTG) and she's due to have her first child in a couple of weeks. I had the pleasure of meeting Christy last summer at CHA in Orlando--she's a doll and I know she'll make a fantastic mother! This card is for her--I'm using a retired WTG set called She's Having a Baby. It's also for the CAS DT challenge on SCS.

I stamped the sweet little images on One Sheet Wonder card stock and colored them with Copic markers. OMGosh! but I love that card stock!!! Smooth as can be, takes all kinds of blending without a hint of bleeding. Be still my heart!! OK, back to the card. The base is Barely Banana and I added a layer of Whisper White, run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder--so baby-like, don't you think? Then I punched the images out with my 1" square punch and popped them up on Pop Dots. For the Barely Banana element, I took all the sentiment words and made a background stamp with them, stamped it twice, and tied a green gingham ribbon around. Finally, I added a button from MFT's Chocolate Kiss collection, tied on with Perle cotton and some teeny tiny pearls to the rattler.

Thinking Of You - JustRite Friday Challenge #006

This card is for JustRite's Friday Challenge--Beautiful Botanicals. The challenge is to use any JustRite floral stamp. I can do that :) I'm using an image from the Thinking Of You set, stamped on a piece of One Sheet Wonder card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. I cut the image out with a Classic Oval Nestabilitites die and matted it with Elegant Eggplant and Basic Black. I think the rest is pretty straightforward, except you may not be able to tell from the picture that I used some tiny gold flat backed pearls for the flower centers.

Recipe Card With a Twist - Stamp Simply Challenge #127

Look what a fun challenge Sharon has for us this week! In her words:

Feb 19 - ssnotime127 - Recipe Card with a Twist! - Think of flipping through a recipe box filled with cards -- the tabs/dividers come to my mind instantly. That's where we are headed with this one. Make a card (for a recipe if you like, but it need NOT be a true recipe card) that has some tabbed element on it to give you that impression of a traditional recipe card in a box. This wil be FUN -- can wait to see YOUR creations!!!

I've been seeing lots of pretty recipe cards floating around in blogland and I've done a couple of simple ones, but I thought I'd really gussy one up this time. I've never met a pound cake I didn't like, but this one is especially good, so I'm sharing it with you today.

I stamped the tab image from JustRite's Recipe Borders and Centers Set on a punched out tab, added a green border and sponged the edges. Then I made the card--using Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry 6 x 6 pad. Then I typed up the recipe, sponged the edges, and adhered it to the card, first adding a sweet little green gingham ribbon and bow and some buttons from MFT's Spring button collection.


I love how this turned out--I'm actually thinking of framing it for my kitchen!

This is the card I made as a sample for SCS Color Combinations #258: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, and Soft Suede. When I first got the colors I had no idea what to do. But since the twist was to use a critter of some kind, that got me thinking. These colors said "elegance" to me, so either a bird or a butterfly was my thinking. I love the shape of this Inkadinkado butterfly so I pulled him out and stared at him. Plum, huh? OK, now to go through patterned paper to see what I had that would work. I found this MME paper that I'd gotten at Michaels a while back just 'cause it was purty :) Glad I did.

First of all, I stamped the butterfly on vellum with Versamark and then Soft Suede inks, and heat embossed with clear fine detail embossing powder. Then I took my neglected SU! marker in Perfect Plum, colored all the un-embossed areas, and then wiped it off with a paper towel. Then I cut it out and added flat back pearls for the body.

I'm using Sweet Sunday Sketch #56 and two stamps from PTI's Life set for the sentiment. More pearls and silk ribbon from Sharon Johnson's store was all it needed to finish it off..

Happy Birthday - Color Throwdown #80

It's another Color Throwdown day! Danielle has chosen a great combination: burgundy, rust, and light green.
I was sort of puzzled about how I was going to go about these colors until I found this paper in my stash. Designer paper to the rescue again!!! It's from the Butterfield 6 x 6 pad by Memory Box. It has all the colors PLUS does most of the work for me. Sweet.

So, I came up with a CAS card, using a PTI Rustic White base and then a layer of the patterned paper, sponged with some Vintage Touch ink. I stamped the sentiment, from PTI's Birthday Basics, on a scrap of the paper with Terracotta Tile pigment ink, ran it through my Cuttlebug with a label die and slapped it on the ribbon. A little bow using Scarlet Jewel ribbon, and some Vintage Buttons in Spring Moss and Terracotta Tile tied on with Rustic Twine finished it off! Quick and easy and, I think, kinda cute :)

For my project, I made a little peep treat and a card to go with it using the new What's Crackin'? set. This set just "cracks" me up! (Sorry.)



I stamped all of the images on Perfect Paper Panels with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copic markers, along with a little paper piecing.



I used several of the images and sentiments from the set.



All buttons are from MFT's Spring collection.


Wouldn't this make the cutest little peep gift!? I love these little bunnies, don't you?!

FTTC #54--All About ME!

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC54)! This week Dee Jackson is our host! Dee is challenging us to "All About Me". Use what you love and what makes you happy!! Use your favorite colors, stamps, layout, and embellishments! Whatever ROCKS your world! We would love to see what you create!

Well, CAS is rockin' my world right now ;-) And, of course, you know I still love me some ribbon and buttons and twine and dimension and bling and lots of other embellishments. And I adore big ol' sentiments. This card is the best of both worlds, I think. I stamped this image from Flourishes' DIY Topiary on some rustic white card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Then I stamped the planter image twice--once on the topiary image and once on a scrap of paper. I colored each of the images with Copic markers and then tied the ribbon around the card base. Next, I popped the second planter up on Pop Dots and tied on the buttons--this gave the planter great dimension. I then stamped the sentiment, from Timeless Quotes, on the card base with Versafine Sepia ink and again on a scrap with Always Artichoke. Then I cut out the upper case words and popped them up on Pop Dots. You know, I think this card will qualify for the CAS challenge this week: Spring.
